I was 5 years old ,and I was sitting on my brand new trampoline... my parents then came out and said ,” You wanna try something new like maybe softball. “ I of course said ,”YES!!” The next day I had softball practice and I was scared about there being the mean girls on the team. I knew that there were going to be the girls that thought they were the best. And there was. I had one person help me out and that was my dad and mom helped sometimes. I was scared of playing softball once I got on the field ,because the ball moved so fast coming at me. I have wanted to give up softball many many times ,but I did because my dad would push and get me to get in the yard to practice. I know that I will try more new things in the future. For, instance

Avoiding all the curve balls that were thrown at them, the ChMS Baseball team took the necessary steps to get to an advanced level. With 28 wins and 8 losses, they practiced everyday to become more and more talented. “My favorite part about this season was that everyone got along and worked hard together,” commented Lucas Jennings. The head coach of the team is Coach Ayers, and the assistant coach is Coach Green. These two coaches pushed their players to their limits to make them the best of the best. Most of the 8th grade players will be moving up next year to high school baseball. “Next season I am mainly looking forward to playing with older high school students,” said Carter Frederick. Most of the players have been playing for a long time…

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” is a phrase that stays true to everyone especially during your freshman year of highschool. When I was fourteen, my baseball team went to a spring showdown baseball tournament. Spring showdowns have always been my favorite type of tournament since I played 10u travel ball. Although now I have a different perspective on these tournaments. On the way home from this particular tournament my face look like a baboons buttocks, with a big red swollen eye that was surrounded by brown and purple bruise. This was from a fouled off baseball, and I will never forget the event or the decisions I had to make. As a freshman I had to learn how to make educated, courageous, and tough life decisions.…

“You did not make the softball team” is a sentence I heard almost invariably. I had just moved to Texas, where I was thrust into a whole new world of sports. Athletes played year round, unlike the north where sport seasons were only six months long because of the cold, likewise, the competition was unlike anything I had ever seen. I tried out for over a dozen teams, from the very best to the very worst and did not make one. Inevitably, there was always a girl who was faster, stronger, and overall better than I was. I was eventually given a choice, to quit softball and pursue another hobby or continue to play softball and refuse to let others beat me. I choose the ladder.…

Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes, varying from person to person. We are all faced with different challenges to overcome and different obstacles to face. In the spring of 2016, the UNA Softball team faced many challenges before becoming National Champions. From beginning to end, the Lady Lions did not have it so easy, as many thought it seemed. With a 60-7 record we faced losses, not only on the field but off the field as well.…

The person who has changed my life in the past couple years was my softball coach. She had us all work as hard as we could everyday. If we didn’t put in our best effort for a drill, she would have us start over and do it again. Coach Tash was motivated, committed, and helpful to everyone on the team.…

I couldn’t believe what had happened to it, I was so mad. It was one of my favorite toys of all time and to see it in its condition made me sad. My dad used to be a P.E. teacher. One day he brought a bunch of his sports equipment home in a big blue bag. My sisters and I loved it when he brought his sports equipment home because we would always play with the tennis rackets, footballs, and everything else inside of the bag. There was a really nice red ball in the bag. It looked like a medium sized dodgeball, but it was a lot softer than a dodgeball. The ball was big with rough diamond shaped patterns all across it. It felt smooth and it bounced up and down very easily. I asked my dad if I could play with the ball and he said yes. I would…

Hi , I’m Lilli Burton . I am in sixth grade, and play baseball with the boys. A barrier i have faced is trying to play baseball because I am a girl. Whenever I try - out , they say “ She would be great at softball.” I face the barrier in Summer and Fall when it is time for baseball. A lot of coaches are sceptical about putting me on their team, but I don’t let that stop me from trying and trying again.Until someone accepts me for who i am. To overcome this barrier , I used integrity by sticking up for my beliefs and not always caring about what people think of me . I also used determination by never giving up and try my best to get better and better everyday. My barriers are similar to Jackie Robinson’s because we both wanted to do something…

An experience that has helped to shape my life was an incident I had with a pro-baseball player during the 2012 and 2013 baseball seasons. According to my viewpoint, the conflict started after we were assigned to our respective leagues for that season. I started observing that “the player” (name that I would use to identity and protect the person’s identity) did not want to follow the strength and conditioning program as the rest of his teammates. ‘The player’s” behavior had several implications: one, “the player” could get injured since he was doing what he considered was best. Two, other players thought I had favoritism with "the player" and tried to do the same. And three, I could had lost my job if any team player got injured by not abiding to the program stipulated.…

Soccer is a very competitive sport. I didn’t play for too long, but i enjoyed it while i played. I was very aggressive and active. Soccer is a sport that you have to use both of those skills. It was a hard game but i liked it at the time. As i grew up, i became fascinated in baseball. I never got to play but i always loved to watch games on tv. I also love to go to Pirates games. Andrew Mccutchen has always been my favorite player. I even have an autographed picture of him. I love to watch the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson. It is interesting to learn about his career in baseball. He stood up to racism and became a very talented and famous baseball player. I look up to him in many ways. I was getting to be a better player and my mom thought it would be a good idea for me to play travel ball. At first I didn't like that idea because I didn't know anyone and I didn't think I was going to make it on the team. Luckily I did make the team and I loved the idea of getting to play softball all summer long. I enjoyed softball but then my coach had started to bench me and wouldn't tell me why and I wanted to quit softball altogether.
