Personal Narrative: Open Air Massage
I rolled over and I saw the feminine looking guy. He was, of course, naked. There I was, lying on my back in an open air massage area with others also getting rubbed on the massage tables while this pretty man with amazing hands was rubbing all over my body with a very relaxing massage techinique. I felt ecstatic! Once more, I started to fall asleep when he moved to my head end of the table and started massaging my shoulders and neck form the front. Closing my eyes, I relaxed as I let his soothing hands do their thing. I mst have dozed off a bit because I suddenly became aware of his hands rubbing me between my legs. Looking down on my feet, I saw a man leaning over rubbing my cock and taking it into his mouth, but the massage was continuing

Scenario 1: I had a new client come in, we followed the same rules and procedures as usual. She filled out the medical intake form, which I reviewed once it was given to me. The medical intake form, had listed some potential contraindications. Such as diabetes and high blood pressure. I went to go to introduce myself and took her to the therapy room. Once we were in a private room, I told her that those conditions could possibly prevent her from having the therapy performed. I started to ask her more about her conditions. I discovered that she had appropriate medication for all of her diseases. She mentioned that she had been living with them for several years, even stating that she had asked her doctor about massage therapy. I then decided that since her conditions were under control, I would perform the…

On my first day of clinical ride time after we dropped off our first patient at the hospital and had given turn over I asked Bruce, “Do you ever wonder what happens after we leave?” He gave me a shrug and a knowing smile replying, “Sometimes but you will get used to it.” To me it felt unfinished. What was going to happen to the patient, would they be admitted, would they be sent home, what would their quality of life be? As an EMT these questions have always intrigued…

The type of employment relationship that exists between an employer and employee or independent contractor is majorly based on the type of control exercised over a person and the terms agreed upon. In the case of the massage therapist hired by Dream Massage, for instance, the employee taken on-board qualities of both an employee and an independent contractor. This is based on the terms of contract laid out, where some are opposing to the idea of being an independent contractor while others support it. First of all, the employer dictates the schedule within which the therapist works. An independent contractor would have a flexible schedule where the person is in control of the hours of employment. In this case, the massage therapist is an employee.…

In the course of my life, I have had quite a few scars. One physical scar was when I tripped, and landed on a rock, and cut my forehead. But the most memorable, was when I was eight years old, I was hurt when I accidentally landed on a table after being hit by a pillow. As a result, I had a wide open cut on the top of my head near my forehead from the landing. I was scarred for life. This was my second scar after I had the former at an earlier age.…

“You’ll never be able to run long distances again” A quote from my doctor when I was first diagnosed with both a tarsal and calcaneal coalition in my left foot. The first thought that came to my head was start digging my grave now. Monday through Saturday for me are spent at the gym or on the tennis court. If I am not training, I am teaching the sport I continue to admire since fifth grade. Those nine words rang through my ears like fingernails on a chalk board. He proceeded to place me in a cast then a few weeks later into an air cast. I viewed this as a small bump in the road and continued to strengthen my upper body and core despite my highly fashionable boot. Two months later my highly optimistic self headed to my “final” doctor appointment to be told I need to continue to wear the air cast. That day I recall telling myself “deep breaths Grace”…

While medical care was available growing up, there were financial or situational periods where it was not necessarily accessible. I am from a single parent family. My mother moved in with my grandparents after her divorce and works two full time jobs to help provide for my brother, grandparents, and I. Since my father went to jail and my grandfather passed, we have had to make many adjustments financially. This was the case due to my father not providing payments for child support for the time he was incarcerated nor occasional months prior. There has also been a complication with my mother and I having our identity stolen, which has created additional problems when applying for governmental aid throughout my undergraduate years. I worked…

Today I had my mom as my patient. I was very happy to have her as my patient because she was very understandable about having her with me all day, and not cleaning her teeth. She has high blood pressure and takes Metoprorol 50 mg one table a day, to maintain a normal blood pressure. She had breakfast and took her medication prior to the appointment, and her BP reading was 130/81, pulse 54 beats per minute, and respiration was 20. Her pulse was 54 and the normal values are 60 to 100, but taking in consideration her age and fact that she expressed that this was normal for her, I did not consider this as a risk factor. The American Heart Association stays that bradycardia or heart rate of less than 60 beats per minute (BPM) in adults may depend…
