Personal Narrative: My Trouble With The Law
I have had trouble with the law since I was a little kid. I began stealing when I was seven. Every time I stole, the cops would bring me home. I guess the law got fed up with me getting in trouble, because they finally put me on probation.
I was twelve years old when I got put in juvenile hall for fighting a kid and knocked out the kids teeth. I was in there for two weeks. The judge didn’t release me to my dad, the judge put me in a group home. The group home wasn’t bad. I became close to a couple of the staff, Eddy and Brenda. They were the coolest people ever. But I didn’t like being away from my family.
When I was in the group home it was the worst year of my life. I was in the seventh grade and I went to Val Verde community school. Val

I had the pleasure of being a client of Mr. White's and he made everything so simple for me. He took my Class A misdemeanor charges and laid out everything I would need to do to get the best result. He was extremely professional and knows his way around the courtroom. Between my arrest and court date he was able to formulate a case that made the charges against me seem nearly unfathomable. On my court date they tried to push my case back even further and he, despite having other clients to attend to, returned back to my case and got my charges dismissed that day.…

All I remember was how it looked like a ghost town. There were hardly any cars on the road and nothing looked open.. This was not what I was used to. We checked into our room at the Holiday Inn, our new house for a little over a month while finding a house to buy, and I shortly fell asleep, being exhausted from our 12 hour journey. Me, my mom, stepdad, sister, and my cat were all crammed into a little, one room, hotel with two beds and one bathroom, I was miserable. For about a week and a half, a played hookie and helped my mom house hunt. Eventually, she decided I had been out of school long enough. That next morning, my mom pulled me into Guntersville Middle School. I was worried because I was ridiculously shy and figured I would have an extremely hard time making friends, but oh was I wrong. Before homeroom was over everyone in the sixth grade class knew there was a ‘new girl from Texas’. That’s when I met Charlie Conner and Anna…

It’s not a secret that there is still injustice and racism amongst the African American community. Too often I hear and read these type of stories about us protecting ourselves or our loved in return going to jail for it. And a lot of time these type of stories always seems to only consist of us. I wish the system wasn’t rigged, but it is. It is like we have a right to be free, but so many of us get lectured, when we exercise our freedom. The stand your ground laws, hardly if ever have been demonstrated to apply to us, just against us. An Aurora woman facing felony firearm charges for firing warning shots at the gunman who killed her fiancé and father of her two children. In the Chicago tribes 26-year-old Ashley Harrison is getting convicted…

It was the beginning of my freshman year of highschool when my mom began to see bugs in my food, my mattress, and any place imaginable, or rather the beginning of my mom’s hallucinations. That year I found out my mom was addicted to crystal meth. I could not believe it. We went from watching A&E’s Intervention together, a show about drug addicts, to my mom becoming a drug addict. That is when my world came crashing down. It was the start of one of the most important times of my life and knowing that my mom would not be there to mentally, emotionally, and often physically, support me was tough. It was extremely hard not being able to eat because my mom swore there were bugs in my food to my mattress being thrown out because “it was infested with bedbugs.” It was tough having to call other people to give me a ride to school because my mom was not capable of doing so. Not being able to go to sleep because I was worried my mom would leave in the middle of the night because she was jacked up on meth. But this was just a regular day…

On 03/29/2017, I was requested to assist first shift with a theft case they had been working. I was asked to make contact with a home owner at 1662 W. Ashleigh Ln. Milton, KS. This contact would be in reference to a stolen 1961 Chevrolet bus that was taken from the property that borders 1662. The information that was passed on to me was the bus had been converted to a motor home and had been sitting vacant on a row of cedar trees for the past couple of years. The person who is reporting the vehicle stolen said he has had permission to park the vehicle on the property. When he called a neighbor to check on the status of the vehicle he was told it had been removed and was gone.…

Throughout the years we moved around a lot. I went to many different schools as a kid. So far Huntsville high has been the longest school I've attended. Moving schools was always tough and my living conditions weren't t the best. I don't really have one house that I grew up in. I lived in many different places with my siblings and adopted mom. I never really had a permanent childhood best friend. When my brother and I weren't fighting we would end up playing and making up ridiculous games because we were always grounded. For a while Erica Mayes came and lived with us due to family issues, and that was always fun. We were always doing ridiculous things to keep ourselves entertained.…

I know that I was an open book. I know that I did not hide my feelings. I know that the people loved me. I was overwhelmed! It seemed as if everybody wanted to be my friend and get to know me. I did not stay in New York long enough to get to know anyone from the ward in a meaningful way on my part. These people clung to me, but I did not have the psychological ability to do the same. It was too much for me to grasp. The week I was to leave, a family offered to take me in and raise me!…
