Personal Narrative: My Pilates Experience
One thing that I observed about myself within my Pilates experience is that I am not as fit as I thought I was. I have noticed that I am extremely stiff when doing the leg stretches. There is a lot of tension in my legs when I stretch using the band. I have also noticed that my legs and arms make cracking sounds at some points when I am doing certain positions. I did not realize that it would be so difficult for me to do some of the positions. As the classes become more intension I began to realize that I need to exercise my body more often, so that it in the future stretches like the ones performed in class would not seem so strenuous. I have come to notice that being slim is not a sufficient reasons to neglect exercising and that walking

To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. Because of this, I have developed a deep insight of the components necessary to be a true Pentathlete. In addition to having first-hand experience, I also have extremely high expectations for both myself and other students, for it is essential in my academic growth. With this, one like myself could ultimately…

When I was in second grade I learned that I loved competing with people and being good at things. I joined a gymnastics gym near my house in second grade when i was 9, and started competing when i was 10. My mom told me that I have to do well in school if I was going to be focused on a sport along with school, or she would take me out of gymnastics. Soon enough, I wasn’t doing so well in social studies and comm skills. I was scared my mom would make me quit, But I worked as hard as I could so get back up there. Focusing more on school than outside activities, I got that grade back up and I continued with my favorite sport. I love gymnastics, but I don’t let it get in the way of school because school always comes first.…

I had been overweight since my early teens, as time passed it continued to worsen. at the age of 15 I was on the brink of obesity; I had to decide a change in my life. My life had consisted of school and video games; these combined had led me to an unhealthy lifestyle. I had dedicated years into my video game hobby, but this was the least active of my time. My hobby had to go, a new hobby had emerged: bodybuilding. Bodybuilding had given me a satisfaction that my previous hobby did not give, the satisfaction of working; that patience and efforts lead to greater satisfaction than momentary things like video…

My goal is to become either a physical therapist or an athletic trainer and help out many athletes who struggle to get back to their normal body. I had two injuries during two consecutive high school golf seasons: a muscle strain in the back and a collarbone fracture. After a week of physical therapy after my surgery on my right collarbone, I started to be able to carry my backpack with one shoulder and write with my right hand. Two month after physical therapy, I was able to hit my driver. Then I realized something quite surprising; as I started to practice, my driver started to go further and further. My coaches had the same reaction as they both asked me if the story of the collarbone incident was actually true.…

I’m glad I was able to push myself to get to that point! It was my mission to change everything about me, that I could change with exercise. Whenever I started talking to people about it, they talked as though it was impossible to do. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I knew that couldn’t be right! That caused me to research my theory, to see if it was true. Once I was able to find information that supported my theory, I started to create a plan to get my desired result. I stood in the mirror and looked at all the things about me, that I felt like I could change.…

Prior to my interview with Bryce Dreager, I thought that the career in personal training seemed fun and something of my interest. Also, I thought it would be a career where I would at least need my bachelors in science for exercise and wellness. I would really love a job where I could be comfortable and love what I do at the same time and personal training sounded like the perfect fit. Most importantly, I made the assumption that I would have to learn a lot about personal training on my own to be really good at it.…

I want to start my weight loss journey but it does not feel like enough time in the day. Most of the time, I am stuck doing homework all day when I am not in class. I told myself that I was going to start a healthy diet and try going to the gym for at least thirty minutes every day. I know if I did, I would feel better and have more energy, but I feel like I always have something else to do that hinders me from going too the gym. There a lot of temptations when it comes to trying to eat healthily. Starbucks is one of my favorite places to go on campus and it is not good for me at all. I think the only way that my diet will work is if I go grocery shopping for healthy items and only eat from my dorm, versus eating fast food every day.…

My life has a few messes that I feel that I need to sort out. I realized these when I was early into my school experience, when I was a younger child, but came into focus when I was about in freshman year of high school, and I would ignore it from time to time. These problems that kept persisting were my college choice, actually applying to the college, and my personal health and fitness. Back when I was younger, my health never really bothered me. I was who I was. I didn't care about being big, I just cared about being a joyful kid. It started catching up to me around the time my seventh year of school started, and got more worrisome as the years went on. I tried to do something about it, like running on the treadmill, tried learning a martial…
