Being employed by the Surf Club of Quogue from the age of 14 hasn’t just taught me ethics and skills in the workplace, it has helped me learn a lot about myself. While my main role is cooking in the kitchen, often times I am called to serve as a handyman. I really enjoy this job because it requires versatility and patience. My specialties in the kitchen are food items like short rib, pulled pork, paninis, burgers, cheesesteaks. Time management is essential when preparing food, especially during the summer rush. I prepare by gathering the required ingredients, setting up my station and making sure all the appliances are properly working to avoid becoming overwhelmed. It is a team effort in the kitchen and communication is key, all employees strive to achieve the goal of presenting the best food possible in the least amount of time and if the entire staff works together, it will be a successful day. …show more content…

Wires and pipes sprouted from every direction making it difficult to get to the water tank. After an hour or two, and numerous failed attempts, it connected and came to life and it felt fulfilling because my employer was counting on me. To complete the property tour, we looked at the bedroom, comfortably proportioned for a queen sized bed and a floor-to-ceiling closet with a large window facing Paolina Park. The attractive bathroom was functional and came equipped with all the essentials. Lastly, we looked at the garage. Maria Laura informed us that Italians refer to a garage as a “car box”. The car box was large enough to accommodate a mid-sized car, a workbench, and storage for tools and seasonal items. I was overjoyed…

Across from me was a handsome, dark haired man, broad-shouldered holding a Les Paul classic custom guitar playing melodious songs while I lay on a nice big red beach chair. In my hand was a big glass of iced tea shimmering in the bright sun as I took a sip it cooled the inside of my throat causing me to keep my cool temperature in the hot summer. It was the perfect day to be out, with the sun casting just the right amount of shine to give me that perfect sun-kissed tan. I was lying on a beautiful red chair with my legs sprung up in a gorgeous white cotton maxi dress. As, I got up and started to walk towards the ocean I could hear the waves up ahead. I took my shoes off and set foot on the hot, white sand. I could feel the sand going through in between my toes from every step I took. As I stroll along the edge of the beach I feel free of worries and stress, I am just enjoying the holidays, no school, or work just free time. In the middle of the ocean were many surfers in yellow shorts riding in the various color surfboards. They were going so fast doing so many tricks…

It has an affair with your emotions and embeds itself in the depths of your heart. You cannot get rid of the ocean once it’s made its mark on you. It is unlike any other addiction on the planet. They say too much of anything can kill you, but, when it comes to surfing – you can never get enough.…

On April 27th2003 my wife (Sara) and I spent our first Anniversary on the Santa Monica Pier in California. There was a carnival going on with a giant Ferris wheel. Tables and booths lined the pier. The aroma of cotton candy and popcorn mixed with the saltiness of the ocean air. As we walked my wife became fascinated by a man painting. He was painting on mirrors, just not with brushes or cans. He was using his finger nails. As the man painted her eyes lit up and a smile widened on her face she did not dare look away until the man was done. Though only a few minutes passed that was all it took for him to paint an ocean scene at sunset.…
