Personal Narrative: My Experience At Hixson High School
I learned very soon after starting my freshmen year at Hixson High School that this was a school that wants to see achievers and believers walk across the stage at graduation and enter into the world around. Through the teachers encouraging me to push myself to do the very best I could possibly due, the multiple organizations and clubs available, and this inner spark that drives me to achieve greatness, I quickly became involved around the school. I am currently the National Honor Society Secretary, Senior Council Representative, Nation Beta Club Member, Hixson Mat Cat Treasurer, and one of the founding members of Hixson Girl Talk. Without these opportunities offered, I would not have built relationships with fellow classmen, teachers, faculty and staff, and most importantly, members of the Hixson community through volunteer work, team bonding, and a shared desire to continue to improve the area. …show more content…
These experiences and opportunities have played a major impact on my choice of entering into the teaching profession in order to help our fellow youth realize just how important it is to be involved in one’s schooling and community. At the end of the day, we, the student body and faculty, are family that will be there to support one another through thick and then. My experience and opportunities at Hixson High School have not only prepared me for my future by building relationships with others, continuously supporting my career choice, and allowed for be to give back to the community, but also, provided me with a rather large family of supporters and dreamers. We are in fact, Wildcat

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

The high school has given me all types of opportunities from discipline to study options and also preparing me for college and the real world. I’s truly grateful for all the supports given to get this far because high school helped changed and mold me to become the young lady that I is today. It helped further my education and I continue to pray to the lord above that I can stay on track because only God knows where I’m headed with this education; but for sure it’s for a better me. When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

Throughout my high school experience, the one memory I remember the most that helped me the most would have to be the time I interned at a local non-profit, Lettuce Live Well. I decided that I needed to encounter more challenges in my life; as if my life wasn’t challenging enough. I decided to work with a non-profit because I knew I would get all the experience I can get while getting to work head on with the local community; this was what made it all worth it. The one place that I found I can get the most experience while still connecting with the local community was an organization call Lettuce Live Well.…

I was awarded a wonderful education at Windham High School, but beyond the information I retained, I also learned what is important in life. At first, I thought all that mattered was the clothes you wore, what makeup you had on, and who you were friends with. There is more to life than all that. I love helping others and my induction into the National Honor Society allowed me to do just that, especially in my four service projects I had the opportunity to lead and be a part of. I try to please people and make sure they are always happy and I now know it is most important to give back to the community who gave me so much.…

“East High is a place where teachers encouraged us to break the status quo and define ourselves as we choose. Where a jock can cook up a mean crème brûlée, and a brainiac can break it down on the dance floor. It's a place where one person, if it's the right person, changes us all. East High is having friends we'll keep for the rest of our lives, and that means we really are 'all in this together'. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!” Troy Bolton. Although I am not a student at East High from the movie High School Musical, this quote sums up my experience at North Kingstown High School. Like the students from the movie, I was encouraged to be myself and along the way I created life-long friendships and many memories.…

During my freshman year of high school I received a letter in the mail. This letter was an invitation to play basketball in Australia, with other boys and girls of my age. The date was September 13, 2011. The letter stated that we would be leaving June 1, of 2012. Of course I wanted to go as soon as I read the letter, but my family was more curious about the trip. We did some research and figured out everything that would be offered on this trip. In my research I read of playing Australian basketball games, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, surfing, and spending three days on Tangalooma Island. This was enough to convince my family that it would indeed be a fun trip for me to attend.…
