Personal Narrative: Chaminade High School
Ever since my first day of school, my parents have observed that I work most effectively within an environment that contains an extensive ethical and organizational framework well as many opportunities to stand out and lead if possible. That is why my parents encouraged me to apply to Chaminade High School, the nearest Catholic school. At first I experienced the initial reluctance that everyone faces when presented with a new, alien situation; however, I was also possessed with an intense curiosity. I knew that I was not the creative, artistic type. I did not have any idea of what electives I would take at the public high school nor did I care about the daily fashion of my peers. I realized that above all else that I desired to attend a school that would play to my strengths. So, I studied up, took the entrance exam, and was accepted. After I received the letter, my excitement did not cease until a few weeks into freshman year. When I finally entered the school that I had anticipated so very much, I realized that this new school was not at all what I had envisioned. The work was much harder than my old school, especially because I do not get home until 7pm on most nights; making friends was difficult, and …show more content…
I hope that during my four years as a cadet, I will be able to draw parallels with my earlier experiences, and deal with the challenges of Swab Summer and cadet life the same way that I have dealt with previous challenges. However, as odd as it sounds after everything I have written about structure, I hope that much of what I encounter during four years at the Academy would be new and surprising, because as I learned three and a half years ago, sometimes one can thrive when presented with the

If I went to MICA High, I would definitely try to be Stargirl’s friend. Since I have read the book from Leo’s perspective, I know more about Stargirl than anyone else in MICA High. I have read about her room, her office, and her personality, and I know that she is someone that I would like to have in my life. She constantly cheers you up and changes your life for the better. She’s simple, yet complicated, in a way that makes you feel enlightened. This is a person that I would love to befriend. However, barely anyone at MICA High appreciates Stargirl’s unique personality. I believe that they are much too hard on her She doesn't deserve all of this hate.…

Williams Elementary School is located just off of interstate 75 and home of the mighty Eagles. From the outside it has the appearance of a typical school with screaming students, rushing parents, and screeching buses. It is made out of boring brown bricks and beige stucco boarding near the top of the building. The inside features a prison-like setup, only with more vibrant colors. There is a double door leading into an office with multiple faculty and staff. In order to actually enter the school, you have to be buzzed in by the round and hyper man at the main desk. Once in the building, you will see that it is shaped like a large square with hallways extending from four sides. The hallways are full of colorful painting of eagles, laminated…

Growing up my mom has always encouraged my siblings and I to continue our education to as far as college. My mother never really got the chance to attend college because her family could not afford to put all their kids in school. She had seven siblings and an extra bill for school was not something her parents were able to afford. I consider myself really lucky to be alive in a time where there are so many opportunities to be able to afford college. If it were not for scholarships and financial aid, my mother’s story would be repeated once again. Through financial aid, the door for a college career is opened for me and I’m willing to enter it. My biggest motivator to push myself academically has been my…

For the past two years, on the 1st Monday of the month I have participated in Site Council meetings at my high school along with other Associated Study Body (ASB) members, our principal, school administrators, parents, and teachers. Frequently it was brought up that minorities were not as involved in our school as majority groups. ASB has always been dominated by white students and as a Latina, I found it very intimidating when I joined.…

The tension began to overlay the dark hall as I stood on the stage. Spotlights bored into my composure, illuminating my anxiety to the shadowy faces in the crowd. My partners and I were eagerly waiting for the results: the ultimate critique of our work. For the past six months, we had been feverishly perfecting our business financial plan for the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) state conference. Through countless hours and late nights, we finally arrived on the daunting stage as a finalist.…

Asheville School is terrific, and my favorite parts are the campus, boarding, and the athletics. Asheville School has an very old beautiful campus. This school has a large campus with brick buildings. The campus has been around since 1900. This school is a boarding school. This means for an extra cost, you can rent and live on campus in small dorms. Because of this, if I have friends that live on campus I am allowed to sleep in their dorms if I need to. Asheville School also has a awesome athletics program. They have football, soccer, baseball, basketball and many other sports. There is also mountaineering which is a bunch of different activities such as rock climbing, white water kayaking and mountain biking. I really like Asheville School…

I have been a student at Macomb Community College for a year, over my academic career here I have learned a lot more than I thought possible. Before I started at Macomb I had already been through two other colleges, but for academic reasons I left those schools. When I finally got to Macomb I had to register for an English class, in which I just happened to get you as my teacher. I thought the class was going to be extremely easy because it was online, and honestly, I thought that I was pretty good at English. As I went through the class I never really paid attention to all the good tips and skills that you were teaching, I just wrote on the topic as I was told. I never practiced on my punctuations, run-on sentences, or even the development…

There is so much that has happened in the last three, almost four, years of my life while attending Kalamazoo Central High School. I have gotten to know people, lost people, found out things about myself, I’ve had good times, and even some really devastating times. And even through all of the things that have happened they made me who I am today. There are somethings I wish I would have done differently with the time I’ve spent these last few years. So if I were given the chance to have lunch with my freshman self I would one, slap some sense into myself, and two really talk to myself about all the upcoming changes and how to handle them, advice on people and the situations I would be faced with, and people I should listen to because they know…

I shook the spray can some more. The metal ball inside of the paint can made a clattering noise. I coughed a few times as the chemicals burned my nostrils. I had to be quick before the cops came. That crazy old bitch across the street snitched on me again. I didn't need another lecture by my parents if I get caught. The spray can ran out just as I finished my work. This wasn't one of my best crimes but I sure was satisfied by it.…

My family decided to come back to Falls Church in time for me to start High School. The day I first came with my parents to register in the new school I was impressed with all of the new academic opportunities at my disposal. My new high school offered honors and AP classes in addition to an IB program, and several foreign languages, all of which my former school lacked. I decided to make the best out of this situation. When classes started, I realized that the differences between the school…

My middle school years are very rough. Starting in 6th grade, I had drama all the time. Of course I never won the popularity test, so if being left out was a constant for me. I could be sitting by five girls and they would completely ignore me. In the mornings before school our lunch lady, use to sell breakfast burritos for all of the kids who got to school early. Every morning I would go and get a burrito, and every morning I would sit by myself and eat it. I remember telling my dad about all the drama and he told me that you are who you surround yourself with so I took his advice and I didn't talk to any of the girls that left me out at all. I would go out of my way to pretend they didn't exist and it helped. That was the first time I found…

During my years of highschool I've struggled with many issues to become a successful member of society. Some ways I've been self reliant as a young adult is not listening to what people tell me I can or can't achieve something. For example, in the article “The Struggle for Human Rights” by Eleanor Roosevelt she says “We have put down here the rights that we consider basic for individual human beings the world over to have. Without them, we feel that the full development of individual personality is impossible” (Roosevelt 7). In one of my years of highschool I wanted to join the cheerleading team and realized I didn't care what people think and that I should do what makes me happy so that is exactly what I did. I didn't care what anyone…

I have also kept good grades and helped out in the National Junior Honors Society. I set many goals this year but so far I have not completed any of them. I wanted to get into the Edison Academy for engineering but I unfortunately, did not qualify. I hope to achieve some of my goals later this year.…
