Personal Narrative: Me As A Writer
Writing can be quite a hard task for a guy like me. Personally I am very interested in politics and current events around the world. I enjoy learning about new cultures and meeting people with new ideas. How does this tie into me as a writer? It ties in because all of the opinions around politics are all inspiration to write what I have to think. Learning about new cultures and meeting new people also influence who I am as a writer. My generation is called the millennia’s and I feel we are the generation that can bring real change to the world we live in. Our generation is very similar to the generation of kids/young adults that grew up in the 60’s. This is because those were times of great change in the country we live in today. Whether it be the civil rights movements or the Vietnam War protests there was a whole lot of people standing up for they thought was right. I see many parallels …show more content…
I would like to attribute that to the way my mom raised me, but I really think that it is just who I am as a person. So when I write I feel like me being able to have empathy for other people allows me to write about issues that do not even concern me. It is hard to do this sometimes when you have quite a bit on your own plate to deal with. When I was in middle school I moved to a whole new school most of the way through my sixth grade year. This was hard for me and I think overcoming the fear of going to a whole new school really helped become the person I am today. The ability to write a well-written essay doesn’t come without work. Though I have only told you a small portion of what kind of writer I am I still have so much more to say. I feel that this course will be a great way to boost my skills as a writer greatly. Not only will expanding my skills help me through college but it will help me for the rest of my life. Whether it be writing a cover letter for my resume or writing an email to my

My writing process is usually all over the place, I have to be in my room with my door shut, my music on, my fan on, and my television on, weird, I know, but that is what I have to do in order to keep myself concentrated. After I am all situated I begin by writing down different ideas on a couple sheets of paper, listing ways I could support this idea and how it relates to my topic, sometimes when I am stuck I look up sample essays online to help me out of my rut. Once I finally choose an idea I start writing the first things that pop into my head down on another sheet of paper, it usually ends up being a jumbled mess that only I can understand. After all of my ideas are laid out onto the paper I begin placing numbers beside them so I know…

The amount I have changed as a writer is unbelievable. The biggest change is that I no longer loathe writing a paper. I feel as though it comes more naturally than before, and I can now make complete sentences easier than ever before. Another thing that has changed is how quickly I can write a paragraph before I would struggle getting a cohesive thought on a page, but now writing a paragraph that relates all together in some way is easier. All of this brings me onto my next point.…

Everyone writes for different reasons. Writing allows us to tell a story through our own perspective. It allows us to pour all our thoughts and emotions into something that we otherwise might not speak about. Writing can spark ideas and memories we have and draw them out to be put into words on paper. It exercises our mind and our way of thinking. When you write you say what you mean. Some people use writing as an outlet, a way to express themselves or relieve stress and anxiety. It can be used for any purpose. Elie Wiesel uses his experience in the holocaust in a lot of his writing. He feels that he must be the one to tell the story of the victims, the ones who can’t tell it for themselves. As a survivor he is responsible for never letting anyone forget about it. I like to write about something I feel strongly about, something that makes me happy or makes me think, someone or something that has influenced me in different ways. For instance, when I visited Ireland a few years ago, the experience I had there is something I care so much about and it has affected me to such an extent that I want to write about it. The people in my life and the experiences I have had are topics that make me excited to write about.…

My strengths are a writer derive from my enthusiasm for writing. I think that part of my abilities stem from my love for writing, because I actually want to hone my skills and perfect my craft. Were there a church where I could mount the pulpit and preach on my feelings about writing, I would be up there doing it. I have said that this is something I must do, and it is true, but as the .love you feel in your heart and your soul for what you are doing reflects in the quality of what you do. Thus, a baker who kneads dough with love in his heart makes a far better loaf than one who dreads what he does, just as a plumber who loves plumbing…

I remember, when I was younger, that I wasn't fond with the idea of writing. I remember after writing out paragraphs upon paragraphs my hands always hurting and my brain exhausted from all the mental thinking and processing of writing. However, I would have this feeling; this sensation when I would write with thought, with passion and I carved it. However, it was hard to find a place that was felt the same kind of passion that I felt for writing and could help hone my writing. Then, I found out about BISFA that could help me with my writing, but my English teacher, who was supportive in my decision, told me a question all writers should always themselves, Why do you write? I figured that I would have an answer, but it I didn't. However, it…

I don't have much to say about writing for myself. Writing doesn't mean much to me. I am not a writer. I am an orator. However, writing does mean something to my wife. I love my wife. She loves to write. She spends hours a day writing. I watch words flow from her fingertips as she writes page after page. She doesn't let me read much of what she writes, but when she does, I can see the passion and the joy that she has for what she writes about. I wish that I could write with such a fire.…

Throughout the year, my writing has had significant improvements, compared to where I began. First, I began this semester fairly confident in my writing abilities. I thought that I had a strong grasp on writing concepts that include: transition words, literary devices, proper grammar techniques, correct paper writing format. In contrast, I felt that I began the year with a weak vocabulary, which has always been one of my weaker areas, If I were to rank myself on day one of class, without knowing all of the material we were going to cover, I would rank my writing skills an eight out of ten.…

My writing history is all over the place. I took Honors English my eleventh grade year, and loved it but took AP English my senior year and hated it. Mr. Palmer, who taught honors, was my favorite English teacher. He let us write about whatever came to mind on Fridays, whether we were ranting about classes or just had a fun story to tell. My favorite part about him is that he actually taught me how to write. My AP teacher did not improve our writing but only critiqued it. In my opinion, you can always learn how to write better. Even with being in AP I wish she fixed my writing more than just giving me a grade. More than half our students failed the English exam and the national average was a 2 on a scale of 5. So, within the past year writing…

My first motive for writing is to graduate. This means I know the more work I put into my writing and specifically my effective writing class, the easier and more impressive my writing will become. I am positive in my four years at Bridgewater College I will find myself writing many papers. Therefore, no matter how indignant I feel as a computer science major, I know I will have to put forth effort into writing to complete four years with high grades.…

I have faced several challenges as a writer. From freshman year to senior year of high school, I have taken English classes to improve my writing and communication skills. Once in my Freshman English class, our teacher had us think about a topic we were interested in and then write about it. Back at that time I had struggled with writing essays, so I would go after school to receive tutoring help from my teacher. She was helpful on guiding me through the research process and then using sources to put information in my paper. I began to brainstorm and write down ideas that I could write for in my paper. My paper was about two pages in length and I turned it in about a week. When I got it back, I wasn’t impressed with the feedback and the grade I received. I then realized that a few pieces of my writing were not organized and didn't make sense, but even though I made the effort on writing this paper, I felt that I had poor writing skills and needed to improve.…

When I look back at my past writing experiences the first thing that comes to mind is when I did Young Authors in grade school. When I was younger, I typically prefered to write fiction, but I also branched out to non-fiction and poetry in order to try to be able to win an award. This made me begin to fall in love with poetry and develop an understanding and respect for non-fiction. In fact, in fourth grade, I won the Honorable Mention in Wyoming for my non-fiction book. It was titled “How to Feel Better When your Family is Gone.” The book was about losing family members who have passed away and how to cope with the loss. After having the experience of earning the Honorable Mention, I began to have an interest in writing.…
