My last reason for re-enlisting is because I believe in my cause. In Document D Thomas Paine said “Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared she has the right to not only tax but to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER.” This quote from Thomas Paine really pushes me to fight for what the colonies need and it makes me want to take down Britain and get the colonies independence. We will fight to have freedom, and taxation WITH representation.…
I enlisted in the continental army because I want freedom. My cousin told me about his experience in the Boston Tea Party. He told me how he threw all the tea into the harbor. Altho it was a surprise to me that when I decided to enlist for the army I was sent to Pennsylvania and froze nearly half to death. The time I spent there was treacherous, there were terrible sights. There were sick all around me, some died, but most deserted. Many, such as the government, thought of General Washington as…
The extinction of all humanity was near. With people dying and turning into these… things would change my view on the world and on life as I had knew it. As a Navy Seal Member I live basically everywhere. But my wife and my 3 kids live in New Jersey near the town of Toms River, we have lived here for over 20 years and this house is my home and will forever hold my secrets to it. My people that I work with are my other Seal Team, but after the Virus hit; my other team members had gone silent and never answered to me. It is easier for me to just claim that the rest of my team is dead, it then let's me just know some sort of answer. I knew of a Virus coming out, but nothing like what this had brought to the world and all humanity.…
Mrs. Monica Wilcox stated that as a Military Family Life Counselor, all her training were online, therefore, she had to be discipline to finish her training in a timely manner. As a Military Family Life Counselor at the Child Development Center on the military installation, she usually has no co-workers because there is usually one Military Family Life Counselor at each facility. Therefore, she commonly will not have the support from co-workers as most work places do. She said that it can get challenging not having a co-worker that she could talked to face to face She mentioned that she was excited when they sent another Military Family Life Counselor to the facility that she is currently assigned to because they get to discussion current…
My wife and I recently moved from Colorado to Tennessee. We moved because of family, so we could be closer to help out. It was a big decision for us. I grew up in Tennessee but haven’t lived here for almost 25 years. She made her visit to Tennessee in July of this year to look for a house. We were looking for something to get involved in so we decided to join the local American Legion since we are both retired military.…
“You are order to active duty as a member of your reserve component unit for the period indicated unless sooner released or unless extended. Proceed from your current location in sufficient time to report by the date specified. You enter active duty upon reporting to unit home station”. These were the words telling me that I was going to Iraq, to fight and destroy the enemies of the United States of America and face one of my biggest challenges yet. Soon after I received my orders in the mail I had a dilemma, what’s going to happen when I tell my mother and the rest of my family? Have I been taking my family and friends for granted, now that I have this situation in front of me I realize that maybe I should have tried…

My experience in the Corps of Cadets has been the most rewarding. The Corps is the closest you can get to living and breathing Texas A&M. It molds you into a person you didn’t think possible.…
Fighting for freedom was the reason we fought in the first place, and I wish to fulfill that reason. Valley Forge was a very difficult turning point, but in all that there is doubt, there is hope. Whether you win, lose, or die, you’ll be glad you re-enlisted , and so will your aging mother and other family members. I wish to serve for my country as my brother did. I believe that in all that there is bad, there is good. In all that there is darkness, there is light. In all that there is doubt, there is hope to conquer our toughest…
Induction Day at the Naval Academy is the first day for all midshipmen on a sweltering June day in Annapolis. For the class of 2017, Induction day was June 27, 2013. New plebes are mulling around in a single file line pouring out of an ominous building where fresh high school graduates entered and frightened children wearing all white canvas bags dumped into the loading docks. The white stone bare aside from the crest of the academy loomed over me as I stood silently waiting for my costume change. I waited to check in wearing the worst middle-aged woman khakis and nautical striped shirt to ever be produced. My hair was cut and resembled an orange cereal bowl on my head. Seven in the morning was when I said good-bye and stepped inside the building leaving my family at the doors.…
The route I have taken after high school has definitely been the path less traveled. I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school to serve the country that welcomed me in with open arms as a refugee, and blessed me so much with freedoms and opportunities that I would have never obtained in Tibet or India. During my years in the Corps, I received the opportunity to travel the World, lead Marines, and make a difference. The Marine Corps has definitely been a steppingstone because it has rewarded me with a broader perspective of the World, military discipline and bearing, and many other intangible traits I plan to instill throughout my life. Also during my service, I gained very unconventional experiences that were…
I’m three miles in on a four-mile morning training run along the sandy Southern Californian coastline. I can’t breathe, and all I see is the ground an inch in front of my face. My Drill Sergeant’s booming voice jolts me back into my senses. I push myself up as I spit out the mouthful of wet sand between my teeth, and immediately my legs begin propelling me forward. My running buddy, De Guzman, already got 10 or so seconds on me so I lean forward, wipe my face, and keep advancing. For another what feels like an eternity, I feel my arms and legs robotically pumping. My heart is racing, my entire body is shaking, my eyes begin to slowly shut, and then I see it: Lieutenant Colonel McMahon standing by the Academy gates, announcing everyone’s times.…
The purpose of this paper is to share my first deployment experience as the first sergeant. Serving in a war zone is an experience you will never forget. As a result of my first deployment to Afghanistan as a first sergeant, I practiced a new perspective on life, instilling trust in my Soldiers and NCOs to continue the mission. Perspective that I developed from the beginning with the pre-deployment preparation at the National Training Center (NTC) through the actual deployment to Afghanistan and finally over the redeployment home.…
It was about seven in the evening and I got a call from my friend, letting me know she and her grandmother had made it home. Her grandmother is in her 60’s, so there wasn’t much texting going between us. I’d been trying to catch up with her all day to interview her, but I guess she had a very busy weekend. I finally arrived to the house just ready to get the interview over with.…
The US Navy came to fruition due to the efforts of navalists including John Adams. Adams was able to further the development of the Navy during his presidency; he first articulated the advantages of a navy which then lead to the establishment of the Department of the Navy in 1798.…
