First time driving

This all started when I was six it was in the summer, we were living in Madison Illinois at the time, and I was outside playing with my sisters, then all of a sudden my dad pull into the driveway. He had just got a new car it was a 2003 Cadillac Deville at the time seeing him pull in, and get out of the car was the coolest thing to me.
So I ran up to him, and begged him to let me drive. He told me that I was too young, and would have to wait till I was a little bit older, so I asked how old would I have to be before I was able to drive he said 16. I didn’t have any patience at that time I said if I couldn't learn how to drive now I would die! He laughed a little, then he made a deal with me he said if I could learn how to ride a bike within the next couple days, then he would show me how to drive.
The next day I jumped out of bed ran to my dad's room, and jumped on his bed I told him to wake up today is the day I learn to ride a bike. He grabbed my sisters bike, and meet me outside. He stood

I was looking at the fliers about sports at school, and the only one that got my attention was the one about basketball. I never really liked basketball, and I wasn't good at it in elementary school, but I was thinking who could it hurt to at least try out.
I walked into the gym where tryouts were being held I see about 30 kids. I start to get nervous, because I'm one of the shortest kids there, and the other kids look like they had been playing basketball for while.
Tryouts start I see kids break off into groups, and have no idea what I'm supposed to do so i just walk behind a group, and just tried to look like I know what I'm doing. Tryouts are over the coach said you will get a message around 9:00 about who made the team, and who didn't. 9:00 comes I just knew I didn't make the team but I checked anyway, and of course I didn't hear my

It was our last day and we were headed to the airport. I was very disappointed that I didn’t have my phone for the plane ride home. It was a long drive there and it felt like forever. For some reason my dad pulled off the interstate and pulled into a Verizon Wireless parking lot. My dad went inside and was in there for half an hour. I asked my mom “What are we doing here?”…

It was a crisp spring day the birds were chirping and the bugs were buzzing and my brother and I, at the age of 10, were playing around in the backyard of our house. All we were doing was just playing around in the backyard having a fun time being normal children as always. Then I came up with this perfect idea to play hockey because since we all love hockey. So we wouldn't work garage I got a plastic baseball bat and my brother got a wooden baseball bat plus a whiffle ball.…

The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. This was the exact thing the driving instructor in The Driver’s Seat‘ taught the author. The routine of how to maneuver and throw caution to the wind- taking risks- to get the author over…

The day I took off on my 4 wheeler, and left my Mom and Dad in the dust. It started out awesome and fun, then turned out to be very scary. It was July 4, 2013, my family and I loaded up our 4 wheelers for a fun day in the great outdoors. We all unloaded our 4 wheelers, then took off out into the desert. I wanted to see how fast I could go around the sharp corners on dirt roads. It was so much. I was having so much fun seeing how fast I could drive my 4 wheeler, around the sharp dirt road corners, I never looked back.…

After I was driving at a comfortable pace for a couple minutes, Mr. Schimp thought it would be a good idea if I tried to use cruise control. He went through the steps of where the buttons were and how it works and asked, “Are you ready to try it?” I said yes because I knew I would eventually have to try it, and that was the day. So I tried it, I pressed the button to make sure the cruise control setting was on and…

My parents always made sure they put me in every sport I wanted to keep their chubby-cheeked, energized, wide-eyed five year old happy. I’m sure they’d do just about anything to keep me from throwing my famous slamming door tantrums. I participated in youth soccer, dance class, t-ball, basketball and probably a couple others as well. My dreams of becoming a professional athlete were certainly in the makings.…

It was a nice, sunny day. Windows down and the stereo up. Going down the highway at about 75 in the middle of the day! All was well until she looked into her rearview mirror; the blue lights were high on her trail. She pulled over, the officers came to her window, is there a problem sir? Ma’am you were speeding he says. Oh I didn’t realize I was the woman said. The officer asked her for her license and she replied, I would give it to you but I don’t have it. Why don’t you have it, he asked? Well, she says, I lost it 4 times for drunk driving. He then wanted to see her registration but she didn’t have that either. She says, ya see officer I stole this car and I killed and hacked up the owner. His body parts are in a plastic bag in the trunk…

It is illegal to drive on the wrong side of the road. Everyone that drives and anyone with common sense knows that. Martinez was due in court on September 29th for being charged with possession of ecstasy, as the article states. This wouldn’t be the first time he was placed before a judge. The article clearly gives a few of the charges on Martinez’s record such as battery, drug possession, and grand theft. This man had drugs in his possession and a record to go along with his name. That makes me wonder how exactly he got onto the expressway and if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Had he survived, I feel as though he would be charged with driving under the influence and, if his recklessness had resulted in any fatalities, vehicular manslaughter.…

I was born in a country where basketball was not so popular. It was mostly for the rich people, because they were the ones that could afford paying lots of money to the coach, and the team to be able to play and learn the game. Since there wasn't too many basketball coaches in Iran, we didn't have many basketball teams for different age groups. Out of all of my friends I had in Iran for the 11 years I lived there, only one of them played basketball in a league. He wasn't even playing for his own age group either, he was playing 1 year up. He was really good of what I could remember, but I just thought that because I didn't know how to play. Has something like that happened to you ever when you see somebody doing something and you know nothing about it and think to yourself "WOW, he's really good", but it turns out they only know the basics!!! Now remember this, that only one of my friends played basketball, and he was really good; because we will get to this later on in the story.…

In conclusion, I think kids should try out for youth competitive teams. Even though some critics may argue that there shouldn’t be tryouts I think there are stronger reasons why there should. Tryouts teach kids important life lessons and if there weren't tryouts there would be too many kids on a team. Tryouts aren’t cruel, kids are just afraid of not being accepted into the…

It all started with this very simple question, “Do you want to move to Florida?” When my mom had asked that, we had just came back from our spring break vacation in Florida. We lived in Kentucky and my siblings and I went to St. Albert, I was in fifth grade. Of course when my mom said that my whole family thought it was a joke, so we all had said sure to the idea. About a week later, I forgot about the question, so after school one day my parents had told me and my siblings they had a surprise for us. Little did I know that we were actually moving to Florida.…
