Personal Narrative Essay: The Super Bowl
We worked really hard and it payed off, we were undefeated and won the super bowl and it was the best feeling ever!!!!
We were ranked number 1 in the playoffs. We played here in Sublette. We had to win one game to go to the super bowl. We played our first game against Meade Buffaloes. Our team and Meade are rivalries. We won in overtime with a trick play touchdown!! Then after our game Elkhart and Meade played against each other and me and my friends were sitting in the stands watching the game. It was a little cold, so we went to go get some hot chocolate. Then the game was over Elkhart won 28-24 it was a close game. So we all got ready because we played next. Then we started to warm up.
Then it was finally time for the super bowl!!

The Super Bowl is an American tradition full of cuisine, laughter, and competition. Millions of people have social gatherings to enjoy the game. However, sometimes the Super Bowl is not the main event. For years, Super Bowl commercials have been distinguished for their creativity, delivering laughter, sorrow, and at times a call to action for their audience. “Best Buds,” a Super Bowl commercial from 2014, was a light-hearted moment where the public was presented with the friendship of a dog and a horse intertwined with a beer corporation. On the other hand, Super Bowl commercials have been criticized often for their lack of meaning in today’s society; Bruce Horovitz’s article “Why Super Bowl ads don’t matter anymore” went so far as to say that…

Me and my friend named Tyler were the only ones who were good on that team. Tyler was gone during this game so I had to do pretty much everything. We were winning at halftime, so my dad tried to get the players in who weren't as good. North came back and was winning, so my dad put me back in. There was about 5 minutes left and we were losing by only like 2. I took…

Coach always says that offense sells tickets but, defense always wins games. I always wondered what she meant by that until we played our 1st game and, I experienced what it would feel like if we would not have played any defense. They grabbed offensive board after offensive board and never once did we box out. The other team looked like all-stars playing against us but never once did we all stop to think about what our coach told us until halftime. We all went in the locker room and contemplated on what coach said about offense selling tickets and defense winning games. Coach then walked in and we all said we were ready coach there is nothing you have to say, and we all started working harder on defense and there we were on top! 72-61! Kansas City Kansas Lady Blue Devils!…

Seaman vs. Washburn Rural, 2014 football season both teams are 0-3. It was a very hard, hitting game. I separated my shoulder is what I found out after the game. Anyway it was the start of the third quarter we were on defense and the quarter back takes the ball drops back and sack him and force a FUMBLE recovered by Seaman at that point we were up 14-7. I got my picture sacking him on the front page of the paper. It was the 4th quarter and they had the ball on our 5 yard line for 10 plays we stop them on all 10 and we picked him off and took it back all the way to there 10 and we won 21-14. One of the greatest feelings ever.…

Americans and sporting events have become an ingrained ritualistic way to commune within our society. The difference between football and other sports is that football is a military metaphor. The Generals or Coaches run the show; everyone dresses in their battle uniform, and they fight each other to “take” the most territory. When enough territory has been “taken”, the one who crosses the magic territorial line with the inflated pigskin performs a ritualistic dance, much like a strutting cock, to celebrate the achievement while also emasculating their competition.…
