Personal Narrative Essay On Jeopardy
Friday night, as our entire family sat together in the living room watching an episode of Jeopardy, listening to one of the contestants give their story about how they taught their African grey parrot to not only have an eighteen hundred word vocabulary, but also be bilingual, you could feel everyone’s boredom spread throughout the room. My brother, who was sick and tired of hearing Alex Trebek said, “Guys, why don’t we ever go do something fun! We should go to Magic Mountain this weekend.” I shrugged it off and continued to watch the TV screen, when to my surprise, my mother spoke up and responded with “Actually, that’s a great idea! Everyone, go pack your bags!” We all, as slow as sloths, got up and packed, thinking that nothing was really going to happen. To my surprise, the next morning, as the sun was just starting to appear, making the sky look enriched with colors of gold, purple, and blue, we all squished into the car, like a can of sardines, and ventured out on our spontaneous trip.

At first, they seemed nice, minding their own business, not bothering us one bit. However, their conversation became loud enough to reach my father, who was not one to keep quiet with his own opinions. As the adults in the family in front of us began to discuss our nation’s politics, straying from my father’s very strong views, my dad could not happen to insert himself into the conversation. It did not stay as a conversation much longer, however, especially once the fists started flying and profanity was being spewed out of each of the competitors mouths. It was a boxing match. I attempted to break up the fight, before anyone else would have to intervene. As I was being pushed in between two angry men, I felt George Washington’s inner rage also become mine, and thought, “this would have been a terrific day if there were no political

My birthday is May 1, 1994, so back a hundred years ago on that date it was when Coxey’s army marched into Washington to deliver a speech to the people. However, the police were there and restrained him from doing so. There were crowds of people waiting to see the army but police forces gathered around in order to guarantee nothing drastic happens. Coxey’s seventeen year old daughter, dressed as an angel of peace, on a beautiful white horse led the army that everyone wanted to see . They were not permitted to pass the White House, they took an alternate route to make it into the city. When they reached the senate Coxey and his right hand man split, dividing their forces. As they are marching into the capitol they were being followed by brass band instruments with white flags attached to them representing the motto “ Peace on earth and goodwill towards men; but death to interest on bonds.” After reaching the top of the stairs, a policeman told Coxey that he could not make his speech and escorted him out. Coxey did show any physical restraint. As the the policemen were taking him away 10,000 people followed, some happy and cheering, and some just jostled the procession. They put Coxey in a carriage, as he was being driven away, tried to make his speech but his voice wouldnt allow him due to the noise coming from the crowd.…

One of my favorite extracurricular activities I participated in was Mock Trial. It consisted of long hours and preparation. I learned scripts, objections, and how to just act in court in general. This year was hilariously disastrous. We had gotten a new coach, and he decided that we needed to do more prep and have less practices, but completely neglected to remember that this year's team comprised of mostly first time participants. He also kept changing everyone's roles. Pretending to be a witness gave me such a thrill, like could I really pull this off? And this year I did, I received compliments from the judge and the other team. I would like to say we won but we didn’t. It is never our goal to win, but to learn from our mistakes. And…

Life can have so many challenges a person will have to endure. Some will be making it to the NBA playoffs and others will be perfecting the cheesecake. For me, it would be the most, terrified thing a young person would ever have, the SAT. Know for its extremely dull black and white pages and its rigorously rough questions, I was about to prove myself against its makers, The College Board.…

It wasn’t the ideal weather to finish a baseball game, especially not an elimination game. It was a humid, cloudy afternoon in Bourbonnais, IL during the month of July. The winds were strong and throwing dirt and dust everywhere. The infield was hard and dry with a light colored dirt that was blinding when the sun came out. In the outfield, it wasn’t much better, the grass was long and patchy. These conditions made it hard to concentrate and play.…

My actions are always a direct showcase of my personal characteristics. A few that are particularly important are having patience, being non-judgmental, and thinking creatively. I learned a majority of my patience through my position as a research position. Research does not have immediate results; a good experiment takes time. My seemingly menial tasks, such as entering data, eventually contributed to the final product. I learned to be non-judgmental in my time shadowing an obstetrician, where I interacted with patients with so many stories. To judge them would cause a disservice, and potentially harm them. Finally, I learned to think creatively during my time at the Guild for Human Services. Each student was unique in his or her problems,…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
