Personal Narrative: Bird Turd Island
Fish on! Fish on! We were fishing on Eagle Lake Canada and we were headed to our lucky spot by Bird Turd island it is out in the BIG lake. We are fishing on a windy day, we hit a huge 4 foot wave head on and our Crestliner boat capsized. I quickly grabbed my backpack, in my backpack I had a marine radio, a survival kit, sunscreen, and some extra food. We swam to closest island call Bird Turd island. I looked back, all of my belonging were sinking to the bottom of the lake. We were shipwrecked! I was screaming and screaming and screaming for help but no one could hear me. I heard a boat so I screamed so more and no one was there. I was hoping someone was coming. I stayed there for what felt like hours, so I decided to walk around and look at the island. I came across and tiny little shed.
The door had words on it, You're in the wrong place. I open up the door and nothing was in there. It was getting to be about dinner time so I sat down to eat, I opened up by backpack there was a loaf of bread and some peanut butter and jelly, with some apples. I wanted the apple so bad, I took a bite and it had the fish water on it so it did not taste like an apple it tasted like fish. We were on the

I was not very happy then they told me that they don't know this lake very well, that concerned me. I took them to the place where my boat tipped and then when they told me the price, I about tipped over. The team got almost all of by fishing belongings. We returned back to the campsite and I felt good with all the stuff they got back to me. When we got to the campsite I decided to return home to my own house back in Wisconsin. We travel the six hours to the border to get back to the U.S.A, when I got there I was asked for my passport. I searched frantically in my bags to try and find my passport, when I remember that my passport was in the bag that was in my boat when it

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

While I was prepping the ship to set sail again before the rain comes, something strange happened. Out of nowhere I was stung by a jelly fish on my foot. I thought nothing of it; I just figured it was just a sting. I finished the last minute preparations and hobbled my way back to the ship to tell the captain. He…

It was summer time and I was wearing my West Scranton football shorts and shirt, it was a normal day in the summer I was sitting in my living room with the air conditioner turned all the way down to 60 to get a cool breeze. I was watching Iron man but I really was not that into I kept drifting off and thinking what I should do with my day. My older brothers Shawn and Anthony came to the door around 2 in the afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go swimming. I quickly galloped up the stairs and asked my mother if I could go, she said yeah just be safe. So we left and went to a place called the “Rez” it was a place where high school and college kids go to jump off rocks and have a good time, it was a nice area surrounded by…

We started hiking through a big pasture in all of our wet, cold kayaking gear. After an hour of walking through the pasture, we ended up walking into the jungle which gets thicker the deeper you go into it. It was a very steep hike and we had to cross over two cliffs where we would have died if we had slipped and fallen. I was at the back of the pack of people trudging through the jungle, so it was very muddy and slippery. All of us were slipping and grabbing anything to stay up, and you would usually be grabbing a thorn vine and tearing up your hand. After two hours of trudging through the jungle, we still could not find the campsite, so we circled back around and found a old abandoned farming cabin to sleep in that night. Everyone on the trip thought we would die in that jungle because it was so dangerous. The next morning we went back down to the kayaks and paddled down the rest of the muddy river to the campsite. The Red Cross came the next day and also we made an appearance on multiple Costa Rican…

It was a ghastly type of day in northern Minnesota, specifically Seagull Creek Fishing Camp. No phone service to be found, television to be watched or people to interact with. Yes, there was the old couple that lived down the bumpy and torn apart road but besides that you would have drive almost three hours to see any civilization. The camp was run and maintained by a guy named Mike Berg. He lived in the town back 131 miles, Grand Marais. He owns three of the four cabins located on the camp, while the other is cabin set as a museum of the camp. It holds some past of the camp and why it was so successful in the past years. After waking up that with the sun just blaring on my face, my hands lifted up to my face to wipe off any eye…

The dogs breath was hot, their faces were covered in blood and feathers as they waited for a drink of water, we picked up our dove and shells out of the powdery dirt field filled with sun flower seeds. With the west Texas sun pouring over our backs it felt like we would never even make it back to the cabin with out the smallest sip of water. We walked on the rocky dirt roads with totes full of birds dragging the butts of our guns as we could no longer hold them up, just waiting for the sounds of our parents vehicles to appear. Just at the time we thought we would have to end up walking miles back to the house the sounds of tires crunching rocks and air conditioner blasting made its way up over the hills. We immediately slumped over the nearest laid down log threw our gear down and watched our dogs crawl to the nearest shade tree, and we waited and waited and waited for the trucks to arrive, as we waited it felt like it took them a fortnight to reach us. As they got to us there was no other thoughts in any of our minds than to get a drink. It didn't matter to any of us what it was along as it was a cool liquid. Reaching into that cold cooler and feeling that freezing cold mist come off the ice hitting us in was the best feeling that we had felt so far that…

I was with my dad fishing on a Friday during the summer at about 4:30 PM. The day was hot and bugs were everywhere around us. I had on jeans, a t-shirt and a vest to store any fish we catch. My dad had on the same, but i had a smaller fishing rod than he did because I was small and not really ready for a fishing rod like my dad’s. We went out to fish and started at a bridge that was very rundown and poorly maintained and didn’t catch much because of the current and rocks around where we were. We got one fish to bite but it fell off whenever we pulled it up out of the water. We then decided to move to another spot over by the cliffs and ridges because no one was there to get in the way. For a while we didn’t go anywhere too crazy and nowhere that took too much effort to get to. Little did I know was that it’d all change quicker than I thought..…

When I open the door it was like a home filled with love and purity my ideal home it was just perfect. As soon as u walk in you see an average size kitchen on the right and a big bathroom with a bedroom on the left and when you keep walking straight there is a living room and a balcony with the most spectacular view of the pier and upstairs there is a bathroom and two rooms. For the first week or so it felt like I was in heaven waking up in the morning and looking upon the whole town covered in fog going to the rocks and looking for crabs, snails, and shells. One day we decide to go to the ocean and although it was cold we went and started searching for shells and then we found something that I happen to know what it was but never actually felt it alive and fresh out the water. I picked it up and showed it to my friend and we started running to the apartments and showed everyone what we found, everyone had their mouths open and started to touch it. There was a tiny voice that started to say to put the purple starfish back because it deserves to live and so i went back and tried to go as deep as I can to lay it down so no one will harm it. For many days we went to the beach till sunrise to sunset watching the tides rise and decrease and seeing the…

After just four minutes my ship had over 100 men in the water, dead, or wounded. There were ships exploding off in the distance and there was fire everywhere. People were running around and some were jumping into the water. It was complete chaos on the ARIZONA. I had somehow managed to take down two planes, damage five, and kill one pilot. While I was aiming at a plane a bomb hit the first deck of our ship sending me and countless others overboard. I hit the water pretty hard and sunk several feet. I was swimming up to the surface when I heard a noise and saw fire everywhere. When I reached the top of the water I found the USS ARIZONA torn in half. I looked around to find the water filled with swimming sailors and dead bodies.…

When I woke up that friday I was super excited because I knew that I was leaving the country and going to Paradise. We did some shopping in the morning but we had to be on the cruise by four p.m. When the cab pulled up to the boat my jaw dropped. It was a carnival cruise ship that I thought was the size of the titanic. We boarded the ship and went to our room to relax. The ship had more than thirteen floors and multiple decks and pools. The first day I got lost each time I had to go back to my room because the ship was that big. First they had a life jacket drill which just explained what to do if something was too ever happen to the ship. After that that’s when the deck party began. They had karaoke, dancing and just little meet & greet activates. Next thing you knew it was time for bed and then the next morning is when I woke up in the Bahamas. I thought I was dreaming because it looked like a scene from a movie or a picture from a calendar.…

After hours of sitting out on the dock, my cousins and I were getting tired. So, we decided to see who could catch a fish first, and then we’ll be able to go inside. It took us another hour in order for one of us to catch a fish. During that hour, there was a lot of frustration and yawning. Since we all gave up on trying to find a manatee, we began to bring in all of the plates that were once filled with food and the fishing poles. But, as soon as we started to get everything together, we heard a noise coming from the water that sounded like something was breathing. Well, to our surprise, that was the sea cow we were hoping to see. The sky around us was too dark to see near us, and the tiny lanterns on the dock didn’t help too…

As soon as I got in the front door my dad called out for me. I put the stuff on the table for a minute. I went to my dad and helped him with the boxes he was carrying. As soon I was finished I ran back to the fish. I filled the bowl with water and tipped the fish in. Felix climbed onto the counter and was looking at the fish hungrily. I noticed this so I pushed Felix off the counter. I swear I heard someone saying thank god. I ignored that and headed to my room.…
