Personal Narrative: Aron's High School Experience At Work
The first thing I talked to Aron about was his high school experience. Aron mentioned that he attended Patrick Henry high school in Minneapolis. he talked to me about his goals and said that he actually wanted to go into the air force to be a pilot. He unfortunately was not able to pursue that goal because his grades of B’s and C’s wouldn't cut it. Later he also found out you can't have any medical conditions such as asthma to join the military. I talked to Aron about setbacks and a few of them happened in high school. His first setback was not finishing high school do to family issues that he didn't feel comfortable sharing. He also didn't go on to college and said “My biggest regret was not going to college because I could be in a better position at work and a better example for my daughter.”
After not finishing high school Aron mentioned he had several jobs. He worked at Mcdonalds, Byerlys, Rockery Cocco's pizza and had an office job. He then stumbled upon a job at the Pillsbury company which is now called General Mills, where he worked in the mail center, then to administrative clerk, payroll clerk, payroll administrator, payroll analyst and garnishment specialist. I also asked Aron what got him interested in his job and he said “ it kind of just fell into to my lap, Because I was going to leave the company to

I asked Aron his definition of success and he said “having a wonderful and strong family, being respectful and having love in your heart and for your family.” He emphasized that it's nice to have things but it doesn't define you as a person. I then wondered if he thought he was successful. Aron said he believes he is more of a success story because he started heading down the wrong path at a young age and made the choice to do better. To start doing better he had to leave his environment and start making better choices so he could be in a good place in the

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

“Skrt skrt!” The brand new 2003 minivan door slowly slid closed as my mom held my hand. My first day of kindergarten started walking through the rocky terrain up to Jacobson Elementary School on a hot, summer morning. Prepared with my lunch box full of goodies and plaid backpack weighing me down, I walked through the gates to the kindergarten playground. My mom helped me find the girl I met on “Meet the Teacher Night” and stayed close by as we played in the ant-infested, wood chip playground. Then suddenly, in the middle of making a wood chip pancake, the bell rang as if it was taunting me, I knew what was about to happen and so did my mother as I watched her face droop more and more as the bell rang it’s three chimes. My mom walked with me to the wall my teacher designated as the wall to line up on. My hand started to constrict around my mother’s as we approached the wall, as we got closer my knuckles began to turn white. My teacher, Mrs. Priest, announced it was time for the parents to leave.…

This week reminded me how amazing and important my job is. Friday was a busy day at the office; I was rushing to finish my work so I could leave on time. As I was about to leave I received a phone call from a hiring manager (Mark) with NOAA. Mark had questions about the interview process and was calling to speak to one of my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleague was on vacation and wouldn’t be back for another week. I looked at the clock and realized it was time to go but I could hear the frustration in Mark’s voice. Instead of leaving, I spent almost an hour listening to Mark’s concerns, answering his questions, and I explained how the federal hiring process works. At the end of our conversation, Mark thanked me for my time and he told me…

Being a senior in high school, I have had countless ups and countless downs during my journey through adolescence. My first high school memory transpired while I was a ball girl for the 2011 varsity women’s basketball at Hillcrest. Even though I was just an eighth grader fetching water for a high school basketball team I felt a pronounced sense of purpose and found myself doing tasks outside of my “job description”. While my duty as a ball girl is over one occurrence that remained was the want for a job that allows me to excel. Being a ball girl helped me access my work ethic. One of the managers at my job once made the comment that I was able to accomplish the work of four servers combined. Unfortunately for myself, my work ethic wasn’t always brought to light when it came to my education. During my freshman year of high…
