Personal Essay: Why I Want An Education Degree
Why I Want an Education Degree Becoming a successful teacher has been a desire in my heart for many years. As a high school student, I had the desire to enter the medical field. The turning point toward a teaching career occurred when I became employed with a small preschool as the three-year old toddler instructor. This job was extremely rewarding. It thrilled my heart to watch these small children grasp new concepts and develop throughout the year. The smiles on their faces when they learned to zip their coat, or say their ABC’s, or count to 100 was worth all the challenges you faced with a classroom of three-year old toddlers. Being able to see the glow on a child’s face when they succeed is indescribable and one of the reasons I want an education degree so that I can witness this experience daily. In my opinion, there is no other career that is more rewarding than that of a teacher who is shaping and molding the futures of our children and the futures of the up and coming leaders in our nation. The ability to teach children who do not speak or understand English is a challenge faced by teachers. Many teachers face overcrowded classrooms, behavior issues, and learning disabilities that add to the stress of the classroom setting. The lack of funds for education is a challenge especially in these times when incorporating technology into the classroom is very important. Lack of funds also results in the teachers spending more of their personal time preparing and creating lessons with limited resources. Although there are challenges I will face in my teaching career, one of the reasons I want an education degree is because I believe the rewards are far more abundant than the challenges I will
