Personal Essay On Pursuing A Healthcare-Related Career

Just before her senior year of high school, my sister, Makenzie, was in a serious accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. She was in a coma for 33 days, and it took her many months of therapy to relearn to walk and talk. I served her daily, assisting in her therapy exercises. It was rewarding helping her recover, and I decided to pursue a healthcare-related career so I could help others. Music is an important part of my life. I have taken piano lessons for 11 years and love accompanying Young Women choirs and my seminary classes. I also play the violin, cello, and percussion instruments. Although practice does not make perfect, I learned to be persistent in order to achieve challenging goals.
