Individual Assignment Wk. 3: Personal Action Plan

My life has been an unusual life; I have chosen to leave my culture and explore many others’ cultures to find myself and who I am. I have been able to have this life’s experience because I live in a country that is accepting of diverse individuals. But, I have to live with the negative aspects of not living by the status-quo; by the way I chose to represent myself to the world. To make a long story short, I am tall, scary, and I chose to dress and conduct myself as a hip-hop urban individual and that comes with consequences; so I consider every situation that I find myself in a scenario that I would make someone feel uncomfortable.
But, I will make my scenario out of my comfort zone, just being in public.

1. When in public, I observe older individuals uncomfortable around me, and thy tend to hold their purses or bags close to their bodies; immigrants tend to be uncomfortable around me due the negative stereotypes given to white men, but some are very true! And most white individuals treat me as if were sell-out or I am trying to be black. 2. Most situations are out of my comfort zone due to the ignorance of others; I always what to be respectful of others and not be as ignorant as others, so I always let them have the ‘upper-hand’ to keep the civility in the situation. 3. The main thing that I have learned from others’ negativity is that I can only control how I act, and only I can make others’ perception of me change for the better. 4. The types of things I notice about people are just as I stated before, I observe older individuals uncomfortable around me, and thy tend to hold their purses or bags close to their bodies; immigrants tend to be uncomfortable around me due the negative stereotypes given to white men, but some are very true! And most white individuals treat me

Racial characterization in the society has been an interesting issue in the society due to the significant attention and influence it has on the human life. The racial disposition of different cultural ethnicities in the community establishes an aura of disparities between people with different backgrounds. The categorization of people according to their racial identity has influenced the perception and treatment of particular groups of people in the society. The racial mindset in the society influences the positions different people hold and the ease of social interaction. Highly racialized societies observe the minority groups as lesser people due to their skin color or their particular way of life. Additionally, this affects the socialization…

I am a firm believer that in order to best choose what to do with your life, you must first know who you are in life. Self-awareness can help create a happy, balanced, and fulfilled existence on a personal and professional level. This can equate to success on both sides of the spectrum. HCS/449, Health Care Capstone has helped me understand this statistic more clearly and it will be etched in my psyche for years to come. I will aim to expand on this knowledge of self and how I may effectively convey it to the world around me; specifically the world of health care on a management level. I am a: hard worker, high performer, fast past learner, self-starter, team player, and work well under pressure. I am a motivator by choice and possess keen communication skills. I was lastly employed in the health care industry in 2010, to pursuit a BSHA and will return to the industry as a more valuable asset. My extreme passion is sometimes misread as aggression and I am strategically learning to control my passion to fit my environment. The objective of this essay is to answer: what my professional goals are, what job I plan to have in the health care sector, what skills I currently have for this job, which skills I need to change or alter, my plan for ultimately achieving my professional goals, what professional organizations can help me achieve these goals, and what benefit does the career action plan outline?…

I was shocked at how closely my career interests and my results were matched. Previous to these career building plans we have been doing, I was almost entirely sure I had chosen the right degree to pursue. Now after doing these activities, they have helped solidify that my career choice is definitely appropriate for me, and it aligns with my skills and strengths as well. For instance; researching, is my second largest strength. I already knew that I loved to investigate and dig deeper into things, particularly human behaviors. Therefore, Psychology is the perfect major for me because it is aligned directly with my skills, strengths, and interests.…

This past week in class we have discussed social inequality among other things, like being socially conscious. Ironically, this is a topic which I am personally all too familiar with because of where I am from and where I’ve been I have observed many situations that are socially unequal. Some people would just accept this as “the norm”, but I know it should be different. I refuse to accept that, any Personal class of people is any more or any less than the other. God created all of us equal and we should love and respect one another as such. In the Midwest community I live in we have a neighboring community right across the river and the only thing that separates us is a bridge. The sad thing is this our two cities are as different as night and day. My hometown is a community of more than eighty five percent of its citizens living under the poverty line. The city across the bridge has a flourishing community of upper middle class and rich citizens. I will attempt to explain a little more in depth how different these two cities are and suggest an action plan for solving some of the social inequality and how we all can be more socially conscious of one another.…

    2. One of the difficulties immigrants, exchange students and other travelers have in adjusting to foreign life arises due to stereotypes and preconceptions. As a result, feeling out-of-place is common and it is something which should be anticipated as normal and likely for a while. The most common stereotype of the American is far from complimentary. It can be described in a few examples of the qualities that others frequently associate with the "typical" American: outgoing and friendly, informal, loud, rude, immature, hard-working, racially prejudiced, ignorant of other countries, wealthy, generous.…

I learned that sometimes self-awareness may be unpopular from the article by Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic. Many self-help advisors want to improve self-esteem rather than self-knowledge and urge people to ignore negative thoughts, in particular about themselves. I always thought it was good to acknowledge negative thoughts in order to obtain self-improvement. I also learned how to prepare to have difficult conversations and that compromising gives up less than accommodating. I thought that compromising and accommodating gave up about the same. I learned that there is a genetic component to emotional intelligence. I now know the components of emotional intelligence which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management.…
