Felicity and the Intruder

Ad Felicity quietly sat by in the fireplace thinking about the big homecoming celebration the next morning. Suddenly, a creaking sound jolted her from her melancholy mood. Stealthily, she walked away from the fireplace to the kitchen door where the creaking sound came from. In the blink of an eye, a small shadowy figure darted from the kitchen. Her heart raced as she saw the intruder a hid behind the stairwell. Felicity cautiously but quickly chased the intruder but her age slaved her down, “Darn this old body”, she mused. Straining her baby blue eyes in the dimly-lit pace, she saw the intruder went quickly to the main parlor.

Felicity stalked the intruder thinking if she could still subdue the intruder despite her age. In the main parlor, Felicity chanced upon the intruder checking out the silver pieces and the other antiques, plus the stocks of food that will be used in the celebration. Felicity was about to charge the intruder but it sensed her and it dashed thru the side entrance of the main parlor then went up the stairs. Felicity snarled and frustratedly went after the intruder in the 2nd floor of the mansion. Their chase went up for about an hour or so. The intruder was always finding some ways to outwit old Felicity and got away from her. But now, Felicity knew that the intruder was very much smaller than her and that she could subdue it with ease. That is, if she catches it. Finally, Felicity cornered the intruder in the main hall. The intruder realized that it was trapped and had no chance of escaping. It knew it had to face old Felicity. Felicity’s baby blue eyes burned with rage as it locked its gaze on the scared eyes of the intruder. Felicity snarled and charged on the scared frozen intruder when all of sudden, the main door bursted open and the lights all went on.

The Lishon family happily entered their home. This gave the intruder a chance to slip away from Felicity for good. “Felicity, how are you?”,the

Inside the cottage, Maggie sat at the table. The cigarette still hung loosely from her fingers. Her skin had browned and grown tight around her bones as it dried with age. Her head had shrunk considerably, the empty sockets of her eyes receding deep within. Her hair, while wiry, laid neatly groomed. Sam, having taken her brush from the bathroom, had done it before…

My body shoots up suddenly and vomit arises from throat. My head is pounding. It feels like it’s banging against the window of a moving bus. It’s an earthquake. I rush to the bathroom, chunks spewing out of my mouth as I run. I hear a creak. My mind registers another presence in the room. I am afraid. Sarah always fixed her golden blonde hair in a style that I thought looked like a big, fat hamburger bun on the top of her head. She had piercing blue eyes, a sharp nose, and China doll perched lips. Her matronly figure was usually adorned in her work attire which was entirely white from her jacket, blouse, skirt, nylons, and even down to her orthopedic white shoes. She did, however, wear a pretty, pink laced handkerchief that rested on her left bosom. Sara worked at the local Morrison's Cafeteria as a server in the salad and fruit section of the food line. Even though Sarah resembled an angel in white, the glare that was in her eyes reminded me of the devil or she was probably like one of the women in the juvenile home that would stand over me with a big, thick stick to hit me if I didn't scrub the floors hard enough were I ever so unfortunate to end up in that…
