Peer Review Experience
I made several changes to my summary after receiving my peer review. One of the major changes that I made was my wording in my summary. Some of the terminology that I originally had wasn’t professional speech pathology terms. So, I think making these changes in word choice really helped make my paper appear more professional. In the beginning my paper also came off repetitive. For example, I had started every paragraph off by saying “the objective of the _____ objective was to”. So by adding words like first, after, and finally, I added a lot of variety to my paper.
The peer review experience was a great one for me.. I was able to make a lot of changes to my paper that I didn’t even know needed to be made to my paper. I also enjoyed reviewing

The essay I chose was ANIMALS ARE PROPERTY: THE VIOLATION OF SOLDIERS ' RIGHTS TO STRAYS IN IRAQ. By DanaMarie Pannella. First of all, I chose this article because the title is very attractive to me. My daughter and I volunteer in an animal shelter, so it’s a given I am a sucker for a stray. The attachment one can make with an animal that has nothing or nobody is remarkable. This essay is peer reviewed, I found this by doing a search in search summon in the APUS library, and filtering the search by marking the scholarly and peer reviewed.…

The purpose of this report is to describe a peer-reviewed journal article that has been identified from a primary literature source. I chose to perform a search through Pubmed based on the enzyme Catalase, reasoning that it should deepen my understanding of the enzyme allocated to my BABS1201 laboratory group. In the end, I was unable to find any primary literature sources that would help with the assignment but I did find an article that I thought would be appropriate. The journal article I chose is titled Serum albumin alters the expression of iron-controlled genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa from the peer-reviewed journal, Microbiology.…

    7. The scholarly (peer reviewed) article will treat the subject matter in a serious manner, not an entertaining or humorous manner. Images and illustration are used sparingly and only when visual displays are deemed more appropriate than written text. Also, since a scholarly (peer reviewed) article treats subject matter in a serious manner, the article is usually fairly long.…

Shantell’s paper for the most part was easy to follow and got the point across about Valero Energy Corporation. One thing I noticed was a couple sentences needed words deleted or added in order to make more sense. There were some also some APA format issues that needed to be addressed. Overall, the paper was informative about the future of Valero as well as the making sure customer needs are addresses. Especially in the world we live in it is important to address customer needs as well as environmental ones. I also found it informative about the whole Valero Company, I didn’t realize there are so many subsidiaries.…

The article I choose was Why Most Rational People Must Disapprove of the Invasion of Iraq. This article relates to the golden rule theory and talks about how the U.S. was in the wrong for invading Iraq when they did. It also talks about the just war theory where it is said that you are justified to act upon war if a country or allies has suffered military attack or is about to suffer a military attack. The U.S. was not in an immediate threat from Iraq so we had no reason to send troops in we can argue that there were Weapons of Mass Destruction. However, as the article says that them having WMDs has been refuted by the best evidence. So then we talk about the golden rule, when using the golden rule we are saying that the US attacking another country that did nothing to them. Then you could say it is okay for another country attacking the U.S. for no particular reason. The article says that if you would have thought it to be morally permissible for the US to preventatively attack a country then it would be ok for another country to attack the U.S.…

Resilience in any human being is vital but it also is important because it is the human capacity to face, overcome and strengthen by or even transformed by the adversities of life (Grotberg E., Unknown). Every individual faces some sort of adversities which means that no one is exempt (Grotberg E. Unknown). Children are no exception to adversities so they must form resilience so they can overcome trauma (Grotberg E., Unknown). Articles that will be discussed will show different mother-child interaction and resilience in children with early developmental risk and also using the resiliency scales for children and adolescents who are in the school settings. An article which discusses the comparison of maternal and paternal influences on young children’s behavior and resilience will also be deliberated upon.…

A literature review is important for finding and evaluating peer-reviewed sources for writing a research paper. “Peer-review is the act of carefully evaluating a work by one or more experts of the same field of work, to determine its credibility, research methodology, accuracy, and relevance to the literature” (Camtasia Studio 8, 2014). Using sources that are peer-reviewed is important because “culturally proficient research practices are necessary to dispel destructive myths and stereotypes” and this is necessary so people that are served by social workers are not exploited or harmed and are helped by research. (Krysik & Finn, 2013, p.81). In addition, this journal entry will discuss some of the biggest challenges for evaluating credible sources…

I think that now I write papers more structured and organized rather than throwing all of my ideas down on the paper. In the future, I think that I will seek feedback by asking a friend to proof read my work or by going to the ask center for help after I have read it aloud several times. If I need more feedback I could talk to my professor and see what his expectations are and what I can improve on. Overall, the experience that I had with all of my proof reading and feedback resources was positive. I think that I have learned more about my habits, which have helped me improve my writing skills in…

When reading the Big 6 steps, I believe that the most important of the Big 6 is Step 1: Consider Your Readers, because if you cannot capture the audience than your research will not matter if no one wants to read it. In Step 2: Select a Role I believe that all roles should play a part in writing a paper that draws the interest for the reader. When using Step 3: Generate Potential Research Questions will be easy for me. I will have a lot of questions because I also have Diabetes. I will be writing for me as well as an audience. Step 4: Select a Preliminary Research Question would be unique because I have a question that I would like answered. Step 5: Narrow the Scope of Your Research Question, I like the way Megan questions were to the point. These are some of the questions, which I have for my research. I of course have a couple more, but these are the main ones when asking questions about Diabetes. Step 6: Refine Your Preliminary Research Question through Searches, the…

The assignments we are challenging in their own different way. For the rhetorical analysis, finding a technical document for actuarial science was extremely challenging. Outside of finding it, writing was straightforward. For the resume assignment, adjusting it for specific jobs will definitely help next year when looking for jobs and adjusting my resume for specific companies. The teamwork projects including the instruction set and recommendation report helped me learn how to communicate with team members much more effectively and setting up meetings better. I really enjoyed working with my team members and learning how to work on a paper collaboratively and make sure everyone is on the same page writing in the same style producing the same message. It was also a challenge to figure out how to present our reports as we all had different ideas. Trying to decide which would be the best was a big challenge, but voting seemed to be the best way to go about it.…
