However, we all had different ideas for the materials and how to assemble the car. In order for everyone’s ideas and opinions to be heard, we each took time explaining to the group what materials we wanted to use and why. This was an effective method, because no one in our group believed there idea was best. Everyone was willing to hear each other’s ideas and not force their own on the group. We realized we were working with a short deadline and needed to get working right away. This deadline gave us a unique opportunity to interact in a team and plan our time. Everyone was asked when they had free time in order to build the car. Everyone had time on Wednesday and Thursday before the project was due on Friday. The team faced a few communication challenges this week. We had a team member drop the course without notice so we were scrambling a bit to ensure all sections would be covered for the final project. A couple team members had some family issues and were not online this week to check into the team forum until late in the week. However, overcoming these communication challenges was easy for us as a team. Since the entire team filled out the team charter we had other ways to contact each other than just the team forum. Text messages allowed us to gain confirmation that one team member did drop the course and allowed the others to let the team know they had some setbacks but would be checking into the forum before the end of the week. The team has agreed to try to abide by the ground rules regarding communication and assignment deadlines as outlined in the team charter for all future work.…

Each team member will begin with their own preconceived ideas of the goals and the ways to reach the goals; coming with their own experiences, beliefs and opinions. By creating the goal and the steps to achieve the goal as a team in the beginning, everyone is on the same page. The other thing that I would suggest is to encourage healthy debate over the…

The original stage of team building is the forming stage. In this stage our group was not exactly sure what this project would entail and what work was ahead of us. We were all polite and on our best behavior making contact with the rest of the group. There was a positive and high expectation that we would be successful and develop an outstanding service learning project. In this stage our roles were not clearly defined. This lead to us mostly working independently and gaining an understanding for the project and what to expect for ourselves.…

For the white ribbon campaign day we planned; who would organise what, who bring in certain things, who would make posters, amd what we would do for an activity to bring the college together to raise money. Whilst be were planning these activities we had a few class discussions and brainstormed our plans through using belbins theory of communicating and learning. How to divide the assignment up among group members was another issue the group had to overcome. Once we decided the part that each group member would complete, each member completed his or her part and submitted as his or her part of the final assignment. When a portion of the assignment was published, each group member would give their thoughts, ideas, and opinions on any changes that might need to be made. In order for this to work, all members agreed that critiques or criticism must be made in a positive manner.…

Going through this project I was faced with many challenges, challenges we had discussed in class that I had thought I was prepared for. I was faced with group issues from lack of communication to time issues and conflicting schedules. I met these challenges by simply asking Tyler what I needed to do, if there was any extra research I could do or if I could help pay for anything extra. As far as the conflicting schedules go we were able to work around others work schedules as much as possible, but with everything nothing will work out perfect and some sacrifices always have to be made.…
