Within that same year, my parents filed for divorced. In 1998 my dad married Sheena Yates, who had a 1 year old son, Eugene Booth. In 1999 my dad had another daughter, my half–sister, Yasmyn Squeteri. In 2000 my half–brother, Mark Sweeney, was born to my mom and step–dad, Brian Sweeney. My mom had sole custody of me and my biological brother Aaron. For a period of time, my dad would see us every Wednesday night for dinner and every other weekend. My mom had her degree in nuclear medicine and worked for Good Samaritan hospital. Shortly after Mark was born, my Mom left her job to become a stay

The United States of America, the melting pot, was built on the immigration of millions. People from vast backgrounds traveled to America with the hope of starting over in a new, open, and accepting place. What if, however, this was not the experience they received upon migrating into the US. During the 1920s immigrants from specific areas in the world were not openly received. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were both Italian immigrants who were treated unjustly for their beliefs. Sacco and Vanzetti were anarchists who were executed for the murder of a paymaster and his guard that took place in Massachusetts in 1927 (“Sacco-Vanzetti Case facts”). During Sacco and Vanzetti’s trial, feelings towards immigrants were negative thus affecting…

    I Am the Cheese Monologue

I am confused. My name is Adam Farmer and also Paul Delmonte. I witnessed my mother and father murdered which truly makes me the cheese. I’m scared every time I think about them. I don’t want to speak about them but I fear I must to conquer the feelings. I knew my mother didn’t have any friends and my father told me that we had no family. My mother spent most of her time in her room and would have a phone call every Thursday evening and it would last a very long time. I didn’t really know my parents very well. They were mysterious to me. It was as if they were hiding myself from me, if that makes any sense. They used to whisper about me in their bedroom, with the door shut. I heard what they were talking about and I realized that they had been lying to me about my identity. My father almost caught me listening in but luckily he didn’t because I panicked and ran away before he could open the door. (1 minute) I was too scared to confront my parents about what I heard them talking about. I thought about telling Amy, my girlfriend, about how weird my parents are but I was scared of what type of opinion she would make of my family. Amy is someone who doesn’t take life too seriously. I think that she is the opposite of me because she isn’t ever afraid and she doesn’t panic, unlike me. I hate people that try to act like they are really tough, luckily they are usually stupid. There were a group of bullies that tried to take my bike and my package away from me. They weren’t clever enough to figure out that I left my bike with the police and they chased me to the police station where I rested for a while because they wouldn’t dare come near me then. Amy’s mother and my mother are also different as my mum stays home all day and her mum spends most of her time outside her house. I am afraid of a thousand things, a million. Like it is to be claustrophobic and yet fear open spaces too. I panic when I try to call Amy from a telephone booth and every time I come across a dog it…

    Life Event

My event began years before the actual event occurred. My stepson had been diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder when he was seventeen years old. He was also exhibiting the signs of alcoholism, which ran in the family. His biological father had died from cirrhosis of the liver at the age of thirty seven years old. His mother and I were both recovering addicts, and argued constantly over whether we should use tough love (me) or enable him (her). I was just his stepfather; she was his mother so I would always follow her lead eventually. Over the next thirteen years he abused alcohol and would steal from us or his sisters to get his alcohol, or to drive our cars without permission. He ended up in prison numerous times for violating his probation, so much so he was on a first name basis with the correction officers at the county prison. The event happened on December fourteenth, 2005. I was awakened at five thirty A.M. by the warden of Lancaster County Prison, and notified that my son had committed suicide in his cell at four A.M. by hanging himself. I went into hysterics immediately and handed the phone to my wife who also lost it. I don’t remember much of that day except that it was our sons thirty first birthday, and that he surely wouldn’t have killed himself on this day, but he had.…

Growing up in a single parent home isn’t exactly what you would call easy. It was difficult, but it shaped me into the person I am today, a hardworking independent student with big dreams. My mom went through a lot to raise me and my older sister the “right” way. Her strong influence made her my top role model, the one person I aspire to be like in the future. My father was gone most of my life. From the stories that I’ve heard, he’s not a nice person. My mom never goes much into any topic concerning my father, for the fear that it could damage any possible future relationship between me and him, although I never really felt any connection. When I was six, he was put in jail for armed robbery. I still remember the weekly 15 minute phone calls that would just end if we didn’t say goodbye in time, no extensions. That was before I knew all the things he did.…

My father didn’t go to college either, he went to trade school for fabrication. When my mother had custody we saw my father quite frequently, but my dad was always known as the “cool fun dad” who let you eat candy and ice cream all the time and had water gun fights in his apartment. Our father got custody of us and we moved from Fort Worth over to Allen, Texas. I was going into my first year of middle school and had to be the new kid again. There was so much tension and heartbreak between my mother and the 3 of her kids. CPS made us have scheduled visits for only an hour a week to see my mother and growing up and going through so many changes, it was hard to not have my mother right by my side. I loved my mother dearly but I knew it was in the best interest of us and her for her to get the help she needed. This August my mom will be 6 years sober from…
