Patrick Succat Kidnapping Case Study
Saturday after noon, Saint Patrick Succat and among a few other men were accused of stealing from 8th Avenue Gang. The leader of this group, Henry Alton, who is suspected of multiple homicides, soon takes matters into his own hands when the authorities fail to get a confession from Succat. Alton kidnaps Succat and takes him to a warehouse in Leixlip. Several eye witness viewed the kidnapping and reported multiple armed men including Alton snatching Succat off the streets. Authorities search for four days, but begin fear for the worst when Succat remains missing. No sightings have occurred since the initial kidnapping. Finally, Thursday afternoon, the unbelievable happens. Succat walks into the Police Station unharmed with the gang and a stranger wearing a sheet. However, that is not the flabbergasting fact. When the members of the 8th Avenue Gang were arrested at the scene, they not only confessed to the kidnapping and conspiracy to murder Succat, but also claimed to have seen Succat to raise a corpse from the dead. This story isn't completely false. Sometime last Friday, a corpse was admitted to the morgue which is beside the old warehouse. Adam Donald had died at the scene of a fatal car collision last Thursday. What was originally a suspected break in was something else entirely. Officers arrived at the scene only to find Donald’s body was missing. The truly peculiar aspect was the broken …show more content…

On March 1st 1932, 20-month-old Charles Lindbergh III was kidnapped. He was the con of the internationally known pilot, Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh and his wife Ana discovered the ransom note in their son’s room. The note demanded $50,000 for the return of the child. The kidnapper was very clever, using a ladder to sneak up to the child’s room and snatch him. He had left clues, however they were all false. Everyone wanted to help find the missing baby, even though locked up, Al Capone had offered his help. A few days later, another note showed up; this time demanding $70,000. This time the kidnapper seemed serious, giving a time and place to drop off the money. They told the Lindbergh’s that their child was on a boat called the Nelly off the coast of Massachusetts, but after long hours of searching nothing was found, no boat and no child. Shortly after, baby Charles Lindbergh III’s body was found not far from the Lindbergh’s mansion. The family was so heartbroken that they moved away after donating their mansion to charity. “The kidnapping looked like it would go unsolved until September 1934, when a marked bill from the ransom turned up. The gas station attendant who had accepted the bill wrote down the license plate number because he was suspicious of the driver. It was tracked back to a German immigrant and carpenter, Bruno Hauptmann.” When the detectives searched Hauptmann house, they found a large portion Lindbergh’s ransom money. He tried denying it but there was plenty of evidence proving he was the kidnapper. Besides the money, the handwriting on the ransom not seemed to closely resemble Hauptmann’s. Although the prosecution’s case was weak, there was still enough evidence to convict Hauptmann. He was then electrocuted the following year. “In the aftermath of the crime--the most notorious of the 1930s--kidnapping was made a federal…

The factors that led Gilles LeClair to be charged of this crime and be sent to court was Ottawa police Det. John Monette had two main things to go on: a pathologist, who performed the autopsy and said Bev Leclair didn't drown by accident in their backyard pool; and that Mr. Leclair, a 57-year-old pub manager, spent too much time at work and not enough at home. Det. Monette had himself heard that complaint all the time at home. The Ottawa police detective usually worked cold cases. Just two days before Mrs. Leclair drowned in her pool in August 2003, police found the body of Ardeth Wood after she had gone missing along the Rockcliffe Parkway. That meant just about every talented homicide detective…
