Pat Toomey And Katie Mcginty Essay
Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty are both smart and experienced people to be part of the U.S. Senate. They hold many different positions in today’s Pennsylvanian economy . I believe that they will both hold a good place in the senate, but some opinions are accepted differently as we have seen in the U.S. presidential race. Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty have different life’s growing up to the 53 year old, 54 year old man and women they are today. Katie McGinty was born in Philadelphia on May 11, 1963 and having been working hard to just get into college, have a family of three daughters and having political work experience since she was young. Pat Toomey “has worked tirelessly to protect Pennsylvania jobs across the state. Our state is blessed with hardworking, honest citizens. Unfortunately, top-down regulations and a sluggish economy have wreaked havoc on Pennsylvania’s economy, hurting our workers. At every opportunity, Pat has fought to save these jobs and encourage the creation of new employment opportunities” (1). Toomey understands that Pennsylvania needs job security and needs to be rebuilt. He is pushing to save these jobs and create more jobs by doing whatever it takes. An example was him teaming up with Senator Casey. Toomey helped Casey save 14 power plants that made more than 1,000 additional jobs. Katie McGinty wants to help create more jobs and stop middle class people from getting the short end of the stick. She also says on here website, “I support boosting the minimum wage to $15 an hour. For our working families, the promise of a living wage is the difference between living in poverty and the opportunity to provide for them. We need to celebrate and support hard work” (2). Katie wants to do this because she believes hard working people like the middle class deserve more pay then the regular minimum wage.
