Passion Towards Engineering
Engineering is the only thing that can give me satisfaction in exploring it. There is always a new thing that can be found, create or solved. That is why I myself have made my own perception towards engineering, which is, ‘found, create, solved’. So, because of my passion towards engineering, I have enter line of technical since I am in 16 years old and fortunately I have been offered in pure mechanical engineering course in UTM. I started to realize I am really interest in engineering when I am 16. I have entered a boarding integration school in Kuala Terengganu. There, I manage to sharpen my skill and enhance my interest in engineering skills and I have entered an engineering competition held by ExxonMobil to grab opportunity in having internal scholarship award. Praise to god, in 2006 I am selected as a recipient among thousands that apply. Two years later, in 2009 when I have further my study in UTM, once again I am selected as a recipient. During study in UTM, I have participated in Educational Innovation Of Motorsport & Automotive Race (EIMARace), an automotive race that is being organize by UTM itself. This race’s concept is based on go-kart style, only the difference is the engine cubic centimeter (cc) where EIMARace fixed 130cc. So we have to work some ideas in innovative ways how to maximize the engine power only by modifying block and engine so that it does not exceed 130cc. In 2009, I was selected as secretary in this event and 2009 is the first race held by UTM. All details and progress of the work have to be recorded and analyze by me. During this period, although work as secretary, but I have gain a lot of knowledge as I have to search information about engine analysis. In 2010, due to my experience in previous race, I was selected as project manager for EIMARace 2010. As a project manager, I have to manage workmen wisely and make sure all progress was on the right track as we planned in my gantt chart. Technically I am

Recently, in my changes and choices class everyone in my class had to do a passion project. In the process of creating our passion projects we had to choose somewhere we wanted to volunteer at that involved something we were passionate about. Our passion projects were based off of our individual interests and passions. I chose to volunteer at Creative Learning Center, a locally known daycare and preschool in DeWitt. I chose to volunteer at Creative Learning Center because I'm very passionate about people in general, but especially children because they always put a smile on my face. During my experience volunteering I really enjoyed the time I spent there with the children and staff, some of the things I got to experience while volunteering…

“Engineering is not merely knowing and being knowledgeable, like a walking encyclopaedia; engineering is not merely analysis; engineering is not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to non-existent engineering problems; engineering is practicing the art of the organised forcing of technological change… Engineers operate at the interface of science and society.” - Dean Gordon Brown. Prior to starting secondary school at Spotswood College at the age of 13, I had little knowledge of the vast opportunities that the field of science offers, nor did I realise how intriguing and exciting science can be. It was in my first year at high school that was introduced to general science, a subject which I would continue to study for three years. I found that the areas within the science curriculum that I enjoyed the most were practical, real-life situations that were relevant to the real world, not just the world within the school laboratory. The process of applying scientific methods to solve real-life problems continued to interest and intrigue me throughout my years of studying general science, and I soon realised that science was the field that I wanted a career in. This idea hasn’t changed. In my second year of high school at Spotswood College, I was offered the chance to take part in an extension program in Chemistry before school three times a week, as well as continuing with general science as a subject. Throughout this year, I was continually amazed at the many different fields that chemistry, and also science as a whole, is composed of, yet once again it was the real-life, real-world applications that interested me. It was at this time that I started researching engineering as a career option. By the time I reached Year 12, I had to decide which fields of science I wanted to continue studying in. Throughout my previous years at high school I had found that it was the fields of…

The definition of engineering is the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, creating, and use of engines, machines, and structures. It is a profession where the forces of nature are directed to the benefit of mankind. I want to discover that benefit, I want to change the world for the better, and that is why I want to be an engineer. An ocean engineer specifically. I feel that the ocean is just a large pool full of possibilities, there are uncharted waters and new discoveries that still await, and that excites me. I want to be a part of the next chapter of technology, where humans use the sea in a partnership in order to gain more for us without damaging the delicate ecosystem below the waters. I think this is the largest challenge we may face, but I am ready and willing to conquer it. I feel that, just as in anything else, one’s attitude is a huge part of what they are going in to. It is important to love what you do, and do what you love which is why I find comfort in my decision of becoming an engineer. This will not be a boring job, new obstacles will present themselves every day and that will definitely keep things interesting; but as an engineer, as a mathematician, and as a problem solver, I think I can handle that.…

“Millions of people saw an apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why”, said Bernard Mannes Baruch (1870 – 1965) an advisor to more than 40 Presidents. And that is why I chose the major Engineering, because I just want to know why. Why do planes fly? Why does the Sun shine? I believe that Engineering is the answer to all of the scientific questions asked. The definition of Engineer is a person that is an expert in technology. They design machines, computer programs, buildings, and chemical processes. They use science to build better things that help us everyday in everyway. Without engineers, the world would stop. My father is an engineer, graduated from the University of Poona in the state of Maharashtra, India. Therefore, since my dad was an engineer, great importance was attached to subjects like Math and Science from a very young age. Those subjects were always first priority because with those subjects, it is possible to do anything.…

As a child I would often play a game of pretend (I would pretend to be something I wanted to be). I would pretend to be a teacher, a doctor, a nurse, a pilot, a scientist, a veterinarian, an astronaut, and the list goes on, there was even a point of my childhood where I wanted to be a pirate. An engineer was never a part of the list of what I wanted to be. I don’t know why it was not included, it just never was. You might wonder if I never did want to become an engineer as a child, then why am I studying engineering now. Answer is: A twist of fate. Engineering was not really part of my plan. I wanted to pursue medicine. I fill-out my college (UPCAT) application form with first choice in campus (Manila) with the degree program of Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy since a second choice in campus was needed I opted for UPLB wherein I wrote Engineering(Industrial and Agricultural) in the degree program. Writing Engineering in that application form was one of the riskiest things I have ever done, it was a spur of the moment. I just told myself that whatever happens happens. Imagine my surprise when I passed and got into the degree program of Industrial Engineering. This is the story on how I got into engineering.…

I remember at the time when I started to go to school, my father used to tell me how bad the conditions were when he was studying. How he studied sitting below street lamps when there was no electricity in the house, how he was forced to do a job leaving his graduation incomplete when they had not enough money even to buy books. Still he continued working hard and completed his graduation successfully. When I see myself having everything I need or even more than that, I don’t think I have a reason not to pursue my studies. Today I am proud to say that I am a mechanical engineer working in Reliance industries Ltd. My father is my inspiration and he is the reason behind who I amtoday. From my school time only I was not much interested in civics, economics, social sciences or subjects in which all you have to do is memorize things which usually don’t have any logical connection between them. But I was very much interested in math and science. Subjects, which have some logical connection behind everything and we don’t need to forcefully memorize much of the data. Fortunately I was good in math and science like it was in my blood. I have more inclination towards my left-brain. I am a type of person who is not so good in arts, singing or dancing but have good logical reasoning and intelligence. In 2004 I got admission in engineering college. It was a bit difficultt in the first year to acclimate to the environment. It was not as easy as I had imagined. It took many sleepless nights, many compromises and what not to complete my engineering. But it wasthe passion, which helped me to go through all this. It was difficult but I enjoyed it. I usedto wonder how by changing the gears of the bicycle the efforts required to drive reduces. But while studying in engineering I came to know how the change in gear ratio reduces the torque required but with reduction in speed. It was nice to know all the things that I had always wondered about. It was my pleasure to study subjects like…
