Parent’s contribution in a child’s sports can have physical and social benefits do to parent participation on and off the field. Parent’s participation can define their child’s opinion of their capability of the sport. Youth athletes whose parents become overinvolved in the participation of sports face more injuries, loss of interest, and increased anxiety. “The increase of violent and vulgar behavior of parents has been reported at competitive matches between teams of teenagers down to t-ball games for five-year-olds." (Kanters). As kids grow older, the response from parents still plays a critical role because of the age of the child and the mentality.
