Pacquiao
TopRank CEO Bob Arum has recently floated the idea of Manny Pacquiao fighting Canelo Alvarez. However, there are several challenges that must be addressed first before such match could occur.

First Pacquiao must defeat Bradley this Saturday night at the MGM Grand and Alvarez must also beat Amir Khan on May 7 at the T-Mobile Center.

There are several things to come off for this fight to happen. The big difference in boxing styles, with Canelo’s power and durability to go up against Pacquiao’s hand speed and knockout power would make a very interesting fight.
Of course Jose Reynoso, the manager of Canelo” Alvarez, wants to see Alvarez take on the eight division champion Manny Pacquiao. That’s possible if he beat Amir Khan in their upcoming bout

He's been one of the best fighters of recent times, and it would be a big fight, but as always we will not disrespect [Khan] by [looking to the future with Pacquiao]. Our first priority is [Khan] and that's the fighter we are preparing for,” Reynoso said in a statement, via the Bleacher Report.

If Pacquiao beats Bradley on saturday and abandons his plans to retire, trainer Freddie Roach and TopRank’s Bob Arum have two names playing on their mind as Pacquiao’s next probable opponents- Canelo Alvarez and American Terence Crawford.

Pacquiao likely to pick the Mexican boxer, Alvarez is one of the biggest names in boxing at the moment. After winning a big fight against Miguel Cotto, he is now set for some big fights this year. The fight with Khan came as a big surprise for everyone and the young Canelo is the crowd’s favourite for victory.

According to Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s official trainer, he’s receptive to the idea of Pacquiao facing Alvarez.

“That’s been talked about, I know he’s big,” said Roach, claiming that his prized ward is willing to fight anybody, including the 5-foot-9 Alvarez, who beat Miguel Cotto by unanimous decision last

    Bernal Diaz Del Castillo

Before accepting Diaz’s text or any other primary document it is important to examine and understand the motivations of the author. Bernal Diaz’s motivations for writing are unusual for a few reasons. First of all, The True History of the Conquest of New Spain was written in response to Gómara’s Chronicles of the Conquest of New Spain. Gómara was Hernán Cortes’ personal secretary and scribe. He was commissioned by Cortes to write the history of the conquest. As a result, Gómara’s text had an obvious bias. In Chronicles of the Conquest of New Spain, Cortes was glorified and credited almost singularly with conquering the Aztecs. Being a lieutenant under Cortes, Bernal Diaz was angered by the complete lack of respect given to the other conquistadors and by the bias of Gómara’s text. He decided to write a history that would correct the numerous inaccuracies of Chronicles of the Conquest of New Spain. Of course, Diaz was no historian, nor was he an accomplished writer. He was merely a common soldier and had little formal education. Still, Bernal Diaz intended to write an accurate history of the conquest and many believe that is what he accomplished.…

In the late Díaz period, there were efforts to anticipate the succession in 1910. Arguments were made that the nation should return to having a vice president. This interested both the anti-Díaz partisans and some Díaz collaborators, for the latter hoped to get in position to succeed the old man. Díaz never lost his grasp of politics, however. He knew who among his supporters were threats. Bernardo Reyes, governor of Nuevo León and commander of the Armies of the Northeast, was one possible vice presidential candidate. Another was José Yves Limantour, Secretary of Finance and the leader of the Científicos. Both had support but Díaz chose Ramón Corral, who had no following and, in fact, was unpopular.…
