My immediate supervisor demonstrates the qualities found in both a manager and a leader. When someone has a position of authority and they are able to exhibit both these qualities you come to realize that they are an asset to the company as well as to the team they are responsible for. My boss is a manager because of the position she holds in the company. “A manager’s authority comes from the manager’s position in the organization, such as a team leader, nurse manager, assistant director of nursing, or vice president of nursing” (Finkelman, 2012, p. 15). She has earned the title of boss, but, it is not position alone that has earned her the respect for the title she holds. She is respected because although she has gained a position of authority she has also exhibited ethical leadership and leader qualities that are respected and admired.…

Aristotle one of a great thinkers left a great philosophical logic that is still being learned today. Born in Stagira, Greece Aristotle started as a student of Plato to become a tutor of Alexander the Great. In Nicomachean Ethics, book written by Aristotle’s, he explains virtues and how happiness is the means by which human beings have moral virtues. The debate whether virtue or vice should determine happiness is what Aristotle simplifies for us. Happiness should be determined by the activities human beings, virtuous or not, do in order to be happy within themselves.…

Out of the many poems we’ve analyzed throughout the week, one particular poem that stood out to me was “The Thief,” by Abraham Crowley. This poem interested me first because the whole idea of the poem was written to be a metaphor. To begin, the title, “The Thief,” makes the reader first and foremost predicted the poem to be one of despair or deceit as the word has a negative connotation to it. Many readers, just as I did, believed that the poem would have a sorrow tone.…
