Ouran High School Host Club[->6] is a Japanese manga[->7] series written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori[->8]. The series follows Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student to the exclusive Ouran High School, and through an accident, is forced to join the school 's host club. It focuses on the relationships within and without the club.
The manga is serialized monthly in Hakusensha[->9] 's magazine LaLa[->10] running from August 5, 2003 and to September 24, 2010. On November 1st 1993 The Boys & Girls Club of Henderson Co. opened its doors to 150 youth in the Green Meadows Community Center. (This 2000-sq.-ft. room now houses the Club’s game-room and a kitchen.) (3). In 1995 The Club obtained two adjacent houses—one eventually renovated into a teen center (1250 sq. ft.), and one renovated into a classroom facility and counseling center (1200 sq. ft.) (3). On January 1st, 2000 The Club opened its doors to a 3,000-square-foot Center for the Arts. Divided into a visual arts space and a performing arts space, the building also houses the largest kitchen on campus. This expansion of the main campus allowed the organization to merge the East Flat Rock unit into the Green Meadows facility. Annual membership surged to more than 500, with a uniquely balanced distribution of African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Caucasian and Native American youth (3).     Junior decides to leave his old school, Wellpinit, and transfer to Reardan halfway through his freshman year of high school. His old school is located on the reservation or “rez” as Junior abbreviates it, and the majority of the students are Native American. At his new school, Reardan, the students are predominantly “white” causing Junior to face many predicaments. For one, the rez is “twenty-two miles to Reardan” (54), which is another conflict from Juniors past, which then leads for Junior and his family. His family lives an average life for an Indian family living on the rez, but driving their son 22 miles to school is very expensive. “Getting to school was always an adventure”(87), as most days he would have to walk. But a great deal of the time “somebody was usually heading back to the rez, so I’d usually catch a ride.”(87) Reardan is further away in more ways than one. It was very different from everything Junior was used to, including the people. “Reardan was the opposite of the rez. It was the opposite of my family. It was the opposite of me.” (57) Junior is an outcast, both in school and out of school, and he does everything he can to make himself fit in. “We were poor enough to get free lunch, but I didn’t want to be the only Indian and a sad sack who needed charity”(55) He was constantly looking for ways to become a “part-time white kid” at Reardan, but knew he would always be a “part-time…
