Orson Wells's Talent
Orson Wells who directed, wrote and started in Citizen Kane is a actor that I consider to be a star. Orson Wells was only twenty five when he produced one of the transcendent movies in the 20th century. Mr. Wells talents were shown throughout his production Citizen Kane that started with the writing of the screenplay. Wells was one of the first writers to go against classical Hollywood cinema by having a variety of flashback throughout his film. Wells acting talent throughout this movie showed me how he could be classified as a star, the way Wells played Charles Foster Kane throughout the movie from when he was a young man to his death really showed his talent. Orson Wells showed his variety of talents in the movie Citizen Kane, thus showing

A literary device used a lot in the story is tone, changing a significant amount of times. There are a few themes in the book, but in my opinion with it majorly being family influences has to do with the different tones. In the book there was a quote that really stood out to me… It stated, “Wes was tired. Tired of being locked up, tired of watching drugs destroy entire families, entire communities, an entire city.” (138).…

One eyewitness declared Burroughs could scrutinize his thoughts. Another test made on the accused was for any "supernatural weaknesses" such as the impotence to quote prayers accurately. Yet another standard was the appearance of a "witch's tit"—any little, abnormal somatic addition, usually fairly compact, through which the witch would sacrifice to the devil when he materialized in the shape of a tiny creature. Rage shadowed by misconduct also speculated a person was a witch, especially when a hex was articulated against a nearby residence or his property approached instantly before the crime transpired.…

I described him as talented because he has been an incredible actor and narrator even since he was little. I also described him as talented because of the amount of movies, Oscars, and recognition he’s gotten. Another trait I would describe him with is hard-working. He has endured so many struggles, from segregation to an unfortunate death, and he still has a firm grip on success. I also described him as well-respected. People, like interviewer Mike Wallace from the TV series “60 minutes”, to President Barack Obama, have commended him, saying things like, “He’s a thoughtful man,” and “I respect him immensely,” (Biography.com…

There have been many artists throughout history that portray artistic greatness, each one possessing a unique quality that makes them an exceptional artist. For example, Van Gogh revolutionized painting techniques and Shakespeare defined a new era of the English language. Even so, I believe artistic greatness is only achieved when an artist loves what they do so much that they continue to pursue it through every hardship. I have seen this quality in Misty Copeland, a principal dance at the American Ballet Theater. Misty’s trials include being an African American dancer at ABT, not having the typical ballerina body, and sustaining a severe leg injury, but through all of it, she persevered and continued to dance.…

“The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his.” This is how author Wes Moore describes the parallel life that he led with the other Wes Moore. I think that his statement is eerily accurate when you break it apart and dive into the crazy parallel lives that these two men led. “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine.” The other Wes Moore grew up in practically the same neighborhood as the author Wes Moore… yet their lives ended up so different. Both Moores lived in Baltimore, in neighborhoods with lower income, and a large drug influence. From a young age the other Wes Moore was exposed to the “drug game,” with his older brother being majorly involved in the local…

Many will always debate on whether or not Arthur Miller had a responsibility to portray the Salem With Trails accurately. It is however seen in his play, The Crucible, he was responsible enough to recreate the events in a way that portrayed what happened in the Salem Witch Trails. Miller in the beginning of the play states that not a lot is known about the characters and that he took it upon himself to make any creations necessary (Miller 2). It was important for Miller to add in or alter crucial details to allow the readers to understand what he is trying to say. These changes allowed Miller to better portray the hysteria that occurred in the Salem Witch Trials and to better compare it the “Red Scare” of the 1950s; therefore his use of “artistic license” with respect to some the historical facts is justifiable.…

"The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them". This quote was stated by Ida B. Wells. Wells was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi, in 1862 and died in Chicago, Illinois, in 1931 at the age of 69. When Wells was young, the epidemic " Yellow Fever", ravaged through Mississippi, killing her parents and her youngest sibling. She became a teacher in order to support her remaining family. Despite the racism she had faced during her teaching career, her first act of defiance towards discrimination was in Memphis, 1884. Wells was ordered to leave her seat on a train even though she had paid for a first-class ticket. She refused, and the conductor coercively removed Wells from the train, bringing applause from other passengers.…

The Gershwins, Rogers & Hammerstein, and Stephen Sondheim come to mind when thinking of the pinnacle of composing. One other man who deserves his permanent place with these others would be Cole Porter. Porter’s extensive library of songs has become classics along with a series of hit musicals that are still done in high mass today. Porter had his share of incredibly tough times, and it simply only makes his rise to the top even more impressive. Cole Porter is without a doubt one of the best composers to ever write for the stage in history.…
