Orlando Magic Analysis
The documentary that I decided to watch will be a 30 for 30 ESPN sports film a Magic moment. The reason that I decided to watch this documentary was I wanted to know more about the Orlando Magic franchise and the rich history. Orlando really didn't expect to get a professional sports team Jimmy Hewitt was the guy that made it happen in Orlando to bring a pro basketball team into town. However the first year of the Magic was a tough one they only won seven games that month after that the Magic only won four more games all season. They needed a great player to build the franchise around other players that will give them a legitimate chance to compete against the best NBA teams out there. That player will come in the 1992 NBA draft the Orlando …show more content…
During the 1994 season the Magic made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history however during the post season they lost four straight games against the Detroit Pistons. It was a disappointing season for the organization they decide to get Horace Grant to help them out. They were the team to beat in the 1994-1995 season they had made it all the way to the NBA Finals to play the Houston Rockets the Magic lost all four games. Shaquille O’Neal decided to leave in 1996 to go play for the Lakers it was all about the money they offered him more then the Magic Orlando will never be the same with out Shaq. My perspective on this documentary I felt that Shaq should have never left the Magic he could of won a lot of championship in Orlando with Grant and Penny by his side. The GM should of just paid Shaq all the money he wanted so they could keep him. The way this documentary impacts my life is you should never take any thing for granted cause you don't know what you have until you lose it. I felt like this 30 for 30 film inspires me to never give up on what you really

Earvin Johnson Jr. was born on August 14, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan, Magic Johnson dominated the court as one of America's best basketball players for 12 years. If there was one aspect of Johnson's game that awed people the most, it was his brilliant passing skills. He dazzled fans and dumbfounded opponents with no-look passes off the fast-break, pinpoint alley-oops from half-court, spinning feeds and overhand bullets under the basket through triple teams. When defenders expected him to pass, he shot. When they expected him to shoot, he passed. Johnson did all of this while maintaining a childlike enthusiasm born of a pure love of sport and competition. Beyond all the money, success and fame, Johnson was just happy to be playing basketball. He retired from the LA Lakers in 1991 after revealing that he had the AIDS virus. He has since then built up a business empire called Magic Johnson Enterprises, which includes real estate holdings, several Starbucks franchises, and movie theaters. Magic Johnson is also a proud part-owner of the Las Angles Dodgers. He signed his contract with the Dodgers before the 2012 season has started and he seems very excited to help this…

I picked this documentary because I am a huge football fan and sports fan in general. I am also really interested in injuries and the health of an individual and, more specifically, I have always been interested in the way the mind works in so many ways that we still don’t understand today. I’m actually majoring in Athletic Training which perfectly explains why I picked this documentary. The other fact is that this documentary points to the three biggest things I am interested in which made this an obvious pick for me.…

The first thing I thought of was that every school board should watch this film. The concept that we are preparing our kids to compete in a global world market rather than at a local level on the football field is one we should all adopt. Many people in the USA seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to educating children. The idea of what a person is going to do after they graduate seems less important than the momentary glory of a two foot trophy for being the best on the junior high basketball court.…

Basketball players can be greatly affected psychologically by all of their different surroundings, the things going on, and how games can affect them. Phil shows that many things affect how players may play, and media is one of the big factors. Media can get into a players head so easily and then they can play like absolute crap just because one thing can be blown out of proportion. Even coaches can be affected by their surroundings. In one of Phil 's games, there were 7 seconds left and they had the ball on a timeout. Phil was peer pressured into making one of the not so skilled shooters to take the shot, when their best shooter should of taken the shot, and they lost the game because of his decision. Some players just may play bad if they have an amazing player on the team like Michael Jordan. In most of the games, a lot of the players would think they wouldn 't have to do anything because Michael was just so good and basically won the games by himself. Well when it came to championship games, these players would make their team lose cause Jordan would get triple teamed and couldn 't score, so they then lose. Lastly players can also be hugely affected by a game win or loss. A win can boost someone up so much, and make them the happiest person alive, where as a loss can psychologically crush you, and tear you apart. Some losses can be worse than others, like game 7 of the finals when Phil lost cause he told his team to just relax a little and hold onto the ball. Because of those they lost, and he was so sad he never got over it, and kept reminiscing about it. Sports can also greatly affect and change people 's lives.…

From the dismantling of the Soviet Union to the rise of democracy in Eastern Europe, desert storm, and liberating Kuwait. Earvin “Magic” Johnsons announcement of his retirement from professional basketball due to his contraction of aids is just as crucial. The creation of his foundation has helped those with and without aids. Also the impact of his announcement created worldwide awareness and helped dispel many misconceptions surrounding aids and how it’s contracted and who usually get it. Lastly his own inner battle with protecting his fellow teammates and opponents to possible infection and continuing his legacy is tragically poetic. And his redemption through being voted to the all star game and later that year playing in the Olympics and winning gold was a fitting end to his year. Florida Studio Theatre’s production of Butler by Richard Strand is witty, full of word play, and all too relevant. As a country embroiled in conversation around race, immigration, identity, and at the core of it all who has the right to humanity, this question is posed to us once again as with this play. Butler embodies both the past and present while presenting a unique opportunity to learn from it and change our future.…
