The article, “No Wonder They Call Me a Bitch,” by Ann Hodgman was one of the weirdest and most confusing articles I have ever read. The thesis is that with a strong influence of Neoconservatives within the government the decision to invade Iraq was based on their strong desire to remain a world superpower as well as achieve power through the attainment of Iraqi oil reserves and breakdown and control of Iraqi’s means of self-defense. I believe everyone of us has got some experience, about living in foreign country or using different language. Some of them are way too complicated, to be understood by other people. Some of them are even described by poetry. There are many of poems, telling about living within foreign community. But two of them, in my opinion, have got something special about them. These two poems are: "Search for my tongue" by Sujata Bhatt and "Unrelated Incidents" written by Tom Leonard. Most people strive to have a good social standing and the ideas and values they hold on to can often influence their place in society. Society dictates which ideas and values will be accepted and which will be rejected. The values that stick with us the most are usually taught to us as children and help to influence who we become. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20). Trying to be the best you can be or an overachiever, takes a lot of time and sacrifice. But sometimes, we end up sacrificing the thing that matters most in life. Being a high honor student in school meant using my time to complete assignments, studying, and being involved in extracurricular activities. But in order to perform as such student, I had to give less time to other activities such as my leisure time, and I realized that I was spending little to no with God. I would usually pray for guidance and protection but as I became more committed to school, my prayer life became stagnant. As time passed while my prayer life faded away, coping with school became harder. It reached to the point that I was starting to evaluate if I really needed school to make it through life. In retrospect, I found that in the past it was easier for me to get through school and I began to think hard on what changed between then and that present time. And that’s when I realized that the source of my strength to prevail was coming from the Lord.…
