The internet has revolutionized the way we live our everyday lives. The internet has also changed the way we consume products and our means of satisfying our demands for our comfort. The internet has made it easier for us to acquire these goods. The internet started being recognized to us in the 1950s. At first, the communications were not world wide and it went only at local stations. The economic boom following the World War II contributed to this development. The internet was not called the internet until 1986. The internet was originally made to help researchers in the field of mathematics. The internet was popularized in the 1980s when Microsoft and IBM came out with the personal computers. The era of online shopping totally transformed the computer in ways few would have imagined in the early 1980s.

Online commerce has played a big role many people’s lives. According to Bruce Krulwich, electronic commerce store’s Bargain Finder, which his organization created “An agent of change”. The creation help simplify comparison pricing. Online shopping started in the early to mid 1990s. The first bank was opened in 1994 and a Pizza Hut website also went online. In the late 1990s and early 2000s online shopping became more accessible for a lot of people and its popularity surged the consumers. Amazon.Com was created in 1994 when internet was becoming accessible by Jeffrey Bezos. It started gaining popularity but the dot com bubble hurt its foundation. The online business recovered and made a profit in 2003. Websites like Amazon.Com and E-Bay have made more convenient then ever before. In today’s society, people are doing all kinds of their financial transaction ranging from buying holiday gifts to buying cars and paying their bills over the net.

Online commerce has many advantages as to regular shopping. The most fundamental advantage is the convenience. Online shopping can be done at home and you do not have to worry about traffic congestion, long lines and the achy feet. Also, another advantage to E-commerce is discounts. Many times of the year, the products are offered for discounts. Prices can be negotiated by different stores and companies.

There are some disadvantages of online shopping and they include not being able to touch the item you are buying and not feeling the item if you’re looking for certain type of fabric. This would make a difference when it comes to buying clothes. Also, depending on the item you buy there, it adds a shipping cost for the purchase. The possibility of the product breaking always exists. In the past ten years, identity theft has grown tremendously. As matter of fact, identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the country. Privacy concerns are great when you are dealing with electronic commerce. It is very easy for people to steal identities and many people are enrolled in programs that protect people’s identities such as triple advantage and privacy source with Bank of America for a moderate fee every month on your credit statement.

Online shopping has come to include many segments of our society. It ranges from the largest corporation to the average Joe. Many large corporations have taken the advantage of going online when it comes to commerce. The most notable are John Deere, Wal-Mart, and Kroger. These corporations have their own websites and offers online services. Services ranging from simple buying products online for consumers to making transactions between corporations are done online by many large corporations online. All of these corporations have something in common and that is, they specialize in providing

the best products in different sectors. For example, John Deere and Company provides agricultural products, Wal-Mart claims they always have low prices, and Kroger provides groceries.
