ONE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING WENT WRONG
"Parveen, you better get up right now or you will be late for school," my mother shouted from the kitchen. Lazily, I pulled the pillow off my face and looked at the clock. I got such a shock to see that the time was already 7.00a.m. I was indeed late. The bus will be here in 15 minutes time. I was definitely going to be late for school. I ran out of my room, grabbed my towel, and dashed into the bathroom. I had no time to bathe, so I just brushed my teeth and washed my face. I got into my uniform. Then I combed my hair. I opened my drawer hastily and pulled out the hair bream bottle. To my dismay, the cream had spilled out. My drawer was a mess. Oh no! Even my favourite ribbons were all smeared with the cream. Me and my butterfingers! I had to comb my hair without the hair cream today. I ran down to have my breakfast. It was ten past seven. Only five minutes to go. So, I took a few sips of milk. Then, I took my school bag from the chair. In a rush, I clumsily knocked down the glass of milk. Shatters of broken glass and milk were all over the carpet. My mum ran from the kitchen to see what had happened. She was so furious with me that she started lecturing me on my clumsiness. I had no time to clean up the mess, so I apologized and immediately went to front door to put on my shoes. Suddenly, I remembered that I left my lunch pack in the kitchen. Running back to kitchen, I almost cried when I heard the bus hooting outside. As fast as I could, I rushed to the door, but only to see that the bus had left. Well, at least I had a bicycle. I took it out from the shed and rode off to school on it. On the way, I suddenly felt that the road was bumpier then usual. I stopped and checked my tyres. What else could be worse? I had a flat tyre. Having no other options, I had to walk. I reached school around 7.45a.m. By that time, everyone was in class. After putting my bike under the bicycle shed, I went to my class. I knocked on the door. I explained

I had to rush to the San Bernardino Valley College library to print out my research paper. Then I was late to my pharmacology class. My front loader Maytag washer machine just decided to break down on me early in the morning. I was on my second load of dark clothes, when I tried to turn the washer machine on. The machine kept saying error. I had 5 other loads to wash and I had asked my mother-in-law, if I could go wash at her house. My mother-in-law was washing and I had to wait until she was done. I didn't get home til 9P.M. and still had to do my trigonometry homework. Next, inanimate objects have their way of getting lost. My direct tv control remote always ends up in weird places. Sundays are game day. It was the first football game of the season and my favorite team Dallas Cowboys were playing at 1:00P.M. It was 15 minutes til the game and the televisions was on the Disney junior channel. I couldn’t find the remote control. Therefore, I had to download the peel remote on my phone in order to change the channel. I notice there was something on the top of my Honda Accord, it was the direct tv…

“Clide, come on. You’re going to be late! GET UP!” screeched the woman of the house, my mom Sandra. I’m taking my time as usual, dragging my feet off my cosy bed as my numb arms reach for my drawer. Our family isn’t very rich, so I don’t have a wide range of clothes to pick from. I wear a black top and jeans, the usual. My mom says that black makes my eyes standout since they’re ever green. I quickly brush my hair even though they always look messy regardless of the amount of times I take showers. “Clide, don’t make me come up there!” “It’s the first day! You must make a good impression!” “Jeez Mom, I’m coming!” I shout as I slide down the stair handles. Although mom always told me to not do it, I have a habit of not listening to her. I quickly…

Mom showed up so the principal told me to wait in the hallway so he could speak to her in private. I knew she wouldn’t tell him why I was such an angry kid, instead she would lie and tell him she didn’t know why I did what I did and that she would have a talk with me about it.…

I hated to leave them there but I can’t be late for class. I kept running and my eyes were focused behind me to make sure none of the cheerleaders were following me, luckily they weren’t but I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. The second I looked in front of me, I ran into a girl carrying a ton of books. I ended up tackling her and everything she was carrying fell to the ground. I jumped to my feet and helped the girl stand, “Oh my god, I’m so sorry. Are you ok?” I asked while picking up her books. The girl nodded and grabbed her folders and notebooks that fell out of her backpack. I looked at the girl, she had long brown hair that was up in a ponytail, there were purple glasses resting on her face. She wore a grey jacket, black…

My feet were anxiously tapping on the bleachers of my middle school gym, as I was waiting for my mom to bring me food. I was freaking out because I had a volleyball game in an hour and my stomach was begging for some rice, beans, and cheese tacos from El Pato. My eyes kept flashing to the door in hopes of seeing my mom, but instead I saw something odd. My brother, who was always busy with work, and my dad walked in, with no food. I was upset and confused.…

I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming the halls in a new school looking for my first class.…

It was a week into my senior year in Ganesha High School. Walking into my third period AVID class, right after our 10 minute nutrition break, everybody, rowdy and noisy, talked about what they had done that weekend or what they had seen at break. As usual I walked towards my seat and as usual it was a task. My school bag was hanging on my side and I had my breakfast box that was filled with a milk carton, an apple, and a packaged bread in my hand; I walked and tried not to trip over the carelessly left bags on the isle. People stood up even after the bell had rung and the noise level was still high. I finally got to my seat; first row, first seat, right next to the teacher’s desk in which he had his computer. I put my bag down on the floor and put my breakfast box on top of my desk. The teacher, Mr. Mariles, came in and everybody took their seat, the noise level lowered distinctively. I turned over to face my friend who was sitting behind me. I whispered to her “Do you know what we’re doing in class today?” she whispered back “I think we are working on our personal statement.” I turned to face the front of the class, with a disgusted expression on my face. The teacher then started to explain what we were going to do that day. He had a smile in his face and was making hand movements all over the…

I had gone over my plan over and over, "Get off the bus, then go straight to homeroom, no socialization." So when I finally got my feet off of the bus and onto the cement, I made my way for my homeroom. I walked fast and focused, no one was going to make me miss homeroom. I arrived at the classroom and no one was there, I faced a dilemma, "Go in an hour early, or stand here in silence." I chose the latter. I kept my eyes on my feet, letting my music flow into my ears as I kicked around little rocks on the pavement. I continued to stand there until the teacher opened his door around 7:00. Being the first one there didn't surprise me, I…

On that first day of school, I woke up very early in the morning with so much anticipation. I slowly sat on my bed fully awake and wondering what the day ahead was going to be like. I rushed to the bathroom to quickly take a shower. After taking a shower, my mom pulled my long brown hair into a nice tight ponytail. After I finally finished my early morning preparation to school, my mother tossed my lunch box and water in my backpack.…

    A Happy Day Turned Bad

As I sat there, playing, the door suddenly banged open. My mom stood there anxiously with fear in her chocolaty eyes. I knew something tragic had occurred for she never came home early. She grabbed my forearms and pulled me up with a jolt and snatched a plastic bag from the corner and stuffed what little clothes and toys I had in it. My own brown eyes were filled with tears, but I didn’t let them fall. She dragged me along as she moved and on her way out, she shut the door with a thunderous bang. Who would have thought that that was the last day I would ever see that little one room garage house again.…
