on the side walk bleeding
On The Sidewalk Bleeding On The Sidewalk Bleeding a book by Evan Hunter conveys that people will judge you by the people you associate with. Andy had struggles with his situation which was created because of his title and his title was the reason he did not get help. When the main character Andy was stabbed he was thinking about what was going to happen and what he was going to do but when he realized he was dying he wanted to be Andy. Wen Andy first got stabbed he thought he had had a fierce rumble with the guardians but he was not aware he was dying (pg98). This shows how Andy was struggling with the situation and did not know what to do. He was not aware he was dying and he could not speak or move so he was trying to figure out how to get help. If Andy died he wanted to die as Andy and not with his title as a royal(pg102). When Andy realized he was dying he didn’t want to die as a royal he wanted to die as Andy he did not want to be remembered as a purple silk jacket. Those were Andy’s problems with being stabbed
The rival gang the guardians were stabbing the title of Andy’s jacket and were not stabbing Andy. When Andy got stabbed the guardians ran away saying “that’s for you royal”(pg98).this shows exactly how they were just stabbing the title they had no clue who was behind the jacket. Andy knew that if had not been warring the jacket he would not have been stabbed (pg103). Even Andy knew that if he had not been warring the jacket he would not have been stabbed. Andy’s title was Andy’s problem why he got stabbed.
Andy encountered a couple that did not help him because he was with the royals and there was a cop that assumed he was a royal even though his jacket was off and beside him. Freddie and Angela found Andy and Freddie said “I don’t know. I don’t want to get mixed up in this. He’s a royal. We help him and the guardians well be down are necks. I don’t want to get mixed up in this Angela”(pg101).this shows how when Andy meets the couple they didn’t help him because he was a royal and they discriminated him because he was a royal.

The deaths in which Hamlet played a part or had knowledge of helped him realize suicide was not the easy way to go. Hamlet stabbed Polonius through a curtain while he was arguing with his mother. Hamlet sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with a letter to the King of England, stating that whomever is holding this letter is to be executed, both Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are beheaded. Claudius and Laertes was planning to kill Hamlet in a duel with rapiers. Laertes rapier had poison on the tip of the sword. Hamlet killed Laertes in the duel. Laertes dropped his sword in a scuffle with Hamlet. Hamlet picked up the sword and stabbed Laertes with his own poisonous sword. Laertes told Hamlet that the sword was poisonous and that Claudius planned on killing him with poisonous wine. Laertes had already stabbed Hamlet with the sword giving Hamlet a short amount of time left to live. Gertrude got ahold of the poisonous wine and drank it, killing her. Claudius tried to stop her but he was to late. Laertes dies from the poison soaked rapier. Hamlet walks up to Claudius, makes him drink the poisonous wine and then stabs him with Laertes’ poisonous sword. Hamlet then talks to Horatio; “Horatio I’m as good as dead”(5.2.349). It is difficult to be a young child because of bad influences. The texts that we had read are very similar. They both have almost the same message. If I view the story, on the sidewalk bleeding, at this point Andy is stabbed and it seems it’s because of the jacket he is wearing. He is in a gang called the royals. This is a dangerously known gang. “If he had not been wearing the jacket he would never have been stabbed. The knife had not been plunged in hatred of Andy. The knife hated only the purple jacket” (Hunter 42). Because Andy joined this group he paid with his life. Joining groups or being around bad people influence you one way or the other you can’t avoid it. But sometimes we can’t help but just want to fit in. it is difficult to be…

Prejudice and our blind eye towards prejudice within our society are evident factors in the story “On the Sidewalk Bleeding” by Evan Hunter. The main character, Andy, because of his gang membership, is pre judged based on his jacket and not for who he actually is. As a society, we do not notice the injustice within our culture. Prejudice, an underlying and unseen inequality made the difference between life and death for Andy. Andy could have been saved numerous times from after he was stabbed but the reaction he faced from the people who could have saved him was a heart breaking experience for the reader.…

I considered the gravitas of my actions only once before deciding to bandage a part of my body. I had wondered if girl I sit next to in Sociology lecture would believe the stories behind my injury. I had wondered if my friends would notice the injury and try to aid me as I walked around the bustling city. I had wondered if they would be annoyed and the constant reference to my injuries. I began to question myself as I wrapped the bright blue bandage around my knee. Around once, then twice, and fastened it securely on the back of my leg. I had spent an hour trying to figure out which body part I should bandage. The wrists were too obvious, my back to hidden, my left ankle too obscured by my new Adidas superstars. So I settled on my knee. My knee could play a central character in thousands of stories that could have caused injury. I began to picture a tumultuous decent down the cement stairs of 55 E 10th street, a catastrophic encounter with a street sign marking the fire line as a no-park zone, an awry Uber making direct contact with my kneecap in the middle of a rainy overcast afternoon. I push those thought away instead focusing on the Yoko Ono’s words. I must only make up the story when someone…
