The experiment that I decided to look into, was finding out if an Armadillidium vulgar, also known as a pill bug, would have a preference to the two types of environments that I had decided to experiment with. The two types of habitats that I choose were saran wrap which is smooth and sandpaper that is rough. How I set up this test was I had a choice chamber with a barrier in the middle that had a little door cut out of the bottom center so the pill bugs could walk through. I placed sandpaper on the bottom of one side and saran wrap on the bottom of the other side. After placing the pill bugs into the chamber I observed them for 10 minutes taking notes on their activity every…
The purpose of this experiment was the reaction rate, and how surface area affected the reaction rate between water and alka seltzer tablets. The half crushed tablet had more particles in the tablet causing more surface area to dissolve in the water. The more surface area in the tablet, the more efficient it is in reacting in with water. Overall in my experiment, it was successful and it was a valid experiment. This experiment had taught me and to understand that the effect…
The purpose of my science fair project is so that people know what the liquids that I added can do to an egg. My problem statement is what kind of liquid such as water, milk, or vinegar will dissolve egg shell the fastest? My hypothesis was proven correct because my Hypothesis was if I test which liquid will dissolve an egg shell faster: water, milk, or vinegar, then I predict that the vinegar is going to dissolve the egg shell faster. Procedures: Pour the liquid into a measuring cup to have them all be 6 ounces, pour the liquid into a different cup, repeat step 2 and 3 with the other liquids, put one egg in each cup, place the cups side by side in a table, let them sit for 24 hours, check every 8 hours, record the data, record data after 24…
Although this experiment is supports the hypothesis enough to arrive at a conclusion like the one above, it did have some sources of error that might have affected the measurements therefore leading to invalid results. Some of these errors…
This project was to see if orange juice can benefit the body more than gatorade can. If orange juice has more electrolytes than gatorade, then orange juice can help the body stay more hydrated. Athletes care about getting enough electrolytes because the athletes need to stay hydrated when working out and playing sports. The independent variable is the orange juice, gatorade, and distilled water. The dependent variable is the electrolytes measured in milliamps. The results were that the gatorade had 0.01 milliamps more than the orange juice and the distilled water stayed at zero. The hypothesis was not supported because the hypothesis states that the orange juice has more electrolytes than the gatorade. If the experiment was repeated, the amount…
A hypothesis is an educated guess. Based on what you have learned and written about in the Introduction, state what you expect to be the results of the lab procedures.…
The experiment results fell a little out of range of the class average. The reliability of the experiment was high as most groups in the class results were consistent. The accuracy could have been improved by using digital thermometers and more accurate measuring cylinders and scales. Some or very little heat was lost from the metal cup due to surrounding environment. Also the position of the fuels source under the metal cup can affect the accuracy. As the condition of the experiments was kept the same for the groups, the experiment had a high…

Potential sources of error in this lab were: experiment was conducted once rather than three times, water in the sink was not cold enough, water in the beaker was not hot enough, lack of a working Bunsen burner…
