Odysseus Is A Hero Essay
In The Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as a true hero as he has led and survived a rigorous journey. To be a hero one must be admired for one’s nobility, achievements, and courageous character. Odysseus was a true strong hero as he was one of the first heroes ever to be put on a journey and make it through many obstacles on the way. Throughout the journey, Odysseus was first put in a rigorous War in Trojan which lasted over 10 years, then had to overcome creatures way stronger than a human, task that were extremely difficult to overcome, and finally return back home to his people of his town. Odysseus has high nobility as he is the king of Ithaca. Odysseus was already in charge of the city of Ithaca which he was in charge of great responsibilities and was one of the major fighters who was brave to fight in the Trojan War. After fighting at Troy for over 10 years, he makes it alive battling in the war, and still finds it his mission to return back home to his people of Ithaca, his son;Telemachus, and most importantly, his wife, Penelope. A hero must have every element to become a true strong hero. Odysseus is portrayed as an early hero since he was one of the first to be put on a rigorous journey as there might have not been any influence on him to become a great hero before that. Compared to his crew men, they were not a hero as they did not have great nobility, achievements, and courage. His crew men, non-heroic, all died throughout the journey as they were not as strong as Odysseus. Even though Odysseus’s crewmen died throughout the journey, it does not portray Odysseus as a nefarious leader as he was the bravest and had to make the sacrifices of his crew men as they were weak and non heroic, and if he had the ability to save them, it would hold him back and put him in the risk of
