Ever since I was 10 years old, I have dreamed of going to college. Despite all the obstacles I have faced, I still wake up every morning with a fresh attitude and a new goal that will put me a few steps toward attending college. I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, in a neighborhood with huge dropout rates, crime rates and a lot of drug activity. Therefore, the first step I have to take is to choose what I want to do for the rest of my life, given that I refuse to be a statistic. My mother always encouraged me to continue my education and getting to school on time and going to school everyday.
