Observation In Ms. Chavez's Gym Class
I have been observing in Ms. Chavez's gym class for several weeks now, the first thing she does on Monday morning is write on her white board in the gym explaining what the activity is for each day of the week, on another white board she writes any rules or expectations she has for the students that coincide with the activity that day. The next step she takes is getting all the materials needed for the activity and looks them over to make sure they are in working order and safe for the students to be using. Ms. Chavez stays very conscious of her equipments condition as well as setting up an environment that is promoting healthiness for the students. Two weeks ago Ms. Chavez set up a rotation of activities to have the students work on some of the state standards like basic loco motor skills, eye and hand coordination, foot and eye coordination like jump roping, shooting hoops with basketballs, throwing a balloon up and hitting it to keep it off the ground, kicking a soccer ball against the gym wall, playing hot potato with 4 students throwing a soft ball back and forth between the four students. The students all have rules they had to follow that Ms. Chavez explained to them and told them the rules were to keep every one safe. She would set a timer and when it went off …show more content…

She began by having the students practice lifting the parachute up and looking under so they could feel the parachute in the air and then began having them put their knees on it and slowly stressing the slowly crawl into the middle, then the robot walking on top of it and lastly making a dome and getting under the

To assist Ron’s comprehension and dedication to the established classroom procedures and norms by starting with his morning routine, as his assistant, it would be prudent to allow Ron to take a huge role in creating the procedure this will significantly influence the way he owns it. Upon creation of the norms and procedures, I will ensure that he has an in-depth understanding of the reason for this new set up. Knowing that Ron is easily distracted especially during the transition times, I will give him an opportunity to practice this new procedure through a series of rehearsals. Such practice sessions allow me to see the sets of procedures and norms that work for him and those that will need modification. One other critical aspect…

I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. The students interacted pleasantly with one another and were were all very welcoming. They came into class, sat down, and got right to work.…

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.…

To ensure a well-run, purposeful program that is responsive to participant needs, there are many standards I exercise within my classroom. My teaching practices include following a pre-set calendar populated with planned activities. It is important to have a plan for each day so that we can transition the children easily from one event to another. Children react better to their schedule when they know what to expect and have a sense of control over their routine. I also believe it is important for the families to know what to expect each day. My calendar includes activities that contribute to both short term and long term goals that apply to the class as a whole as well as to each individual child. My co-teacher and I are cooperative workers by sticking to a routine while remaining flexible to the needs of our classroom and students. We also share ideas, listen to one another, express opinions in a respectful manner, and welcome suggestions and ideas from the rest of our…
