Nurzhan’s Mistake
His face was bleeding. My hand was numb. There was a crowd around Ossie Nishizono and myself, teachers trying to get through the crowd, but it was too late...BAM! I was punched to the ground. Slowly moving to get up, we were pulled away in a hurry. Once the first punch was thrown by me, I instantly regretted it, knowing I would get punched back. Ossie was escorted to the nurse while I was sent to the principal's office. As I walk through the door, I see Mr. Shanaman waiting at his desk; above him, I could see all of his awards. There was coffee on his desk. Mr. Shanaman looked professional with his newly pressed suit and tie.
“Nurzhan, what happened?” Mr. Shanaman asked in alarm.
“You are never the one to get into a fight, especially not

“Oh no, not Maya!” I thought. She’s going to be really mad at me because she would probably miss her gymnastics competition today. I started to lean back on my chair and held my head in my arms, then I heard the door creak open and Maya peeking inside.
“Ummm, Mr. Shanaman?” Maya called out.
“Ahh, yes Maya, so glad to see you. You see, your brother Nurzhan has been in a serious fight with Ossie Nishizono.” Maya looked at me, knowing why I did it.
“So, I was wondering if you could call your mom or dad and ask them to come to the school and pick up Nurzhan.”
“Yes, of course, but my parents don’t speak English very well,” Maya responded.
“I understand that and this is how you come into play. I’m going to need you to translate for them, if you don’t mind,” Mr.Shanaman said, holding out the phone for Maya to call. I overheard some of the conversation, and I knew Papa was mad.
“My dad said he would be coming,” Maya said. She came and sat next to me. Minutes later, I saw Papa’s cab pull into the school parking lot and slammed the door hard. That's when I started to
