During this lab we were able to see the importance of teamwork in engineering and learn the names of those we will be working with in this course. Another problem is that some members of the group will not get their work done on time to allow another group member to start working on theirs. Sometimes some work in required before a different part of the project can be started. If the person in charge of the work prior does not get it completed it would delay beginning the next part.
C. One problem with working in groups is coming to an agreement on how a project will be accomplished. When multiple people all have different ideas on how to do a project it is difficult to decide what ideas are not worth doing or which idea is the best out of them all.
D. Another problem with working in groups is avoiding conflicts. When multiple people with different personalities and ideas come together it often leads to conflicts as people defend their ideas or beliefs.
E. A problem with working in groups would be all doing an equal part of the work as some parts of the project are much bigger and time consuming but can only be done by a single person.

The definition of a group is “two or more individuals, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives” (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 277). As a group, you can either work together well, or poorly. Groups can appoint individual members to certain parts of assignments, or individual tasks and then collaborate later together in a group discussion. This can cause functional or dysfunctional conflict. Functional conflict can be worked through even when individuals have different points of view (conflict). Dysfunctional conflict however, can ruin the integrity of the group and cause extreme conflicts. “One researcher says that the problems of brainstorming demonstrate the problems of groups. If you leave groups to their own devices, he says, they’re going to do a very miserable job” (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 278).…

I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…

How to divide the assignment up among group members was another issue the group had to overcome. Once we decided the part that each group member would complete, each member completed his or her part and submitted as his or her part of the final assignment. When a portion of the assignment was published, each group member would give their thoughts, ideas, and opinions on any changes that might need to be made. In order for this to work, all members agreed that critiques or criticism must be made in a positive manner.…

Next we ensure alignment of purpose. With this I believe it falls into the category of miscommunication. Communication is one of if not the most important part of successes when dealing with a small to large amount of people, if you have 10 over even 100 people working on a single project and they are not in constant communication with each other than will most likely be doing double the work. You must out line the groups purpose. You must see how the group 's interests tie into their…

In fact, a leader is someone who serves their group by taking on responsibilities and taking care of the people. Characteristics of a good leader include selflessness, kindness, empathy, a sense of purpose, a level head and good morals. A leader should be able to take any difficult situation calmly in the face of their group, and maybe with counsel, figure out the best possible course of action.
