Robert Lee Frost was an American born poet, winner of four Pulitzer Price in poetry. Robert Frost’s career took off after moving to England in 1912 where his first book as a poet was published “A boy’s will.” Upon his return to the United States Mr. Frost’s reputation had been acknowledged and accepted, and thus he became a teacher while he continued to write poetry. Frost’s work four of his poems have been selected. “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” published in 1923, “The Road Not Taken” published in 1916, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” published in 1923, “After Apple-Picking” published in 1915. The one common factor between each of these poems is the relation to nature and climate seasons. It is apparent that Mr. Frost influence was derived from his personal interaction with nature and his enjoyment of outdoor activities. As every poem is analyzed individually, it starts to generate an insight into his love for the different seasons of the years. In addition to the list of Mr. Frost’s works, Autumn Leaves, a song by Frank Sinatra has been selected to help illustrate the connection between the poems and the songs. Originally recorded in 1945 by Joseph Kosman and written by Jacques Prevert, and then released by Frank Sinatra in 1956, “Autumn Leaves” references and depicts an imagery closed to that of Mr. Frost’s work and therefore creates a connection that many would otherwise not …show more content…
Artists in every field use nature as inspiration for their most memorable works, whether it is a painting, a song, a poem or a sculpture. There is a connection between nature and the artist that every person can easily relate to; many times people go out for a “walk in the park” to reconnect with nature and find peace and tranquility. Mr. Frost, I believe, was one of the people that felt a strong connection to nature and found amazing inspiration which he then translated into poetry. As a reader of some of his poems a person can effortlessly be transported to the experience that Mr. Frost must have had in his mind when he wrote the poem. He was a talented man that knew how to imprint his memories into a poem and be able to let the reader travel into his mind. This is the beauty of poetry, the ability of a poet to let reader into his mind through his written words as well as let the reader expand his/her own mind with their interpretation of the
