All behavior has communicative value, behaviors differ from intentional ones. A lot of the times we don’t express our emotions whether it’s due to our lack of sleep that causes us to become tired or even if we find someone attractive. Nonverbal communication presents many purposes such as repeating, complementing, substituting, or even a shoulder shrug. Nonverbal communication offers deception clues like face expressions, speech patterns and pupil dilation. We as humans tend to overestimate our ability to investigate others lies when in reality we are only accurate more than half of the time. Nonverbal communication is ambiguous it can have many possible meanings like courtship and sexuality, safeway, nonverbal learning disorder. Gender can differ from women and males, women are much better at recognizing behaviors and they are more expressive. Cultures have different nonverbal languages, differenced can damage a relationship due to the nonverbal behavior.
