Alvin Tan and his girlfriend stirred up a storm when they posted erotic photos and videos of themselves on a sex blog. They started the sex blog called “Sumptuous Erotica” and went on posting about their sex life “for everyone to enjoy”. He later took down the blog on 16th October because “there’s been too much trouble” and he wanted to “stay out of trouble”. However, he posted a video on YouTube the next day, maintaining their stance (‘Video: Latest update from erotic blog couple Alvin and Vivian‘).his behavior is reprehensive and unbecoming of a scholar

His action of posting pictures and videos of his sexual behavior is immoral, unethical and obscene. This is because his actions is of bad influence to others especially the younger ones who are still immature to distinguish what is right from wrong and people might be misled by his actions into thinking that it is right to openly express their ‘love’ for their counterpart. Ethics are the principles and standards that guide our behavior towards other people. Ethics are more subjective, more a matter of personal or cultural interpretation than laws. Laws either clearly require or prohibit an action, while ethical determinations can be harder to make because the distinctions between what is right and wrong are not always clearly defined in such black and white terms.…

    Immorality of Pornography

The argument over the morality of pornography can take shape in many different ways. In order to take a stance, it's important to identify what exactly is included in the definition of pornography. In this paper, pornography will be defined as sexually explicit materials in which the acts depicted degrade or subordinate women. The degradation and subordination can occur through various different acts, but in an attempt to curtail the wordiness of the definition, those words are used to include any act that misrepresents or defames women. Erotica on the other hand, which is not part of the moral argument of pornography, is sexually explicit material that portrays the man and woman as more or less equals. It is with this distinction in mind, with regard to the philosophies of care ethics, utilitarianism, and deontology, that pornography is in fact wholly immoral.…

    Porn and Censorship

Traditionally, liberals defended the freedom of consenting adults to publish and consume pornography in private from moral and religious conservatives who wanted pornography banned for its obscenity, its corrupting impact on consumers and its corrosive effect on traditional family and religious values. But, in more recent times, the pornography debate has taken on a somewhat new and surprising shape. Some feminists have found themselves allied with their traditional conservative foes in calling on the state to regulate or prohibit pornography-although the primary focus of feminist concern is on the harm that pornography may cause to women (and children), rather than the obscenity or immorality of its sexually explicit content. And some liberals have joined pro-censorship feminists in suggesting that the harms that violent and degrading pornography causes to women's social standing and opportunities might be sufficiently serious to justify prohibiting pornography, even by liberals' own lights. Many others, both liberals and feminists, remain unconvinced. They are doubtful that pornography is a significant cause of the oppression of women or that the "blunt and treacherous weapon" of the law is the best solution to such harm as pornography may cause. As we shall see, the debate over whether pornography should be censored remains very much alive.…
