Situation Analysis
This case is about Nitish, an MBA graduate from a highly reputed college who has had a mixed experience in IT and business processes over a period of four years. As he was looking to settle in a different city, on referral from his batch mate he decides to apply to Solutions Unlimited, a software solutions provider. Initially he was looking forward to the job, as he liked the work profile and the flexibility it would offer but things start getting bitter during his recruitment itself with the HR department, Meena and Venkat. He was offered a low package at a profile clearly not suited for his level which leads to him having an ego tussle with the HR department, particularly with Meena. Only after intervention from higher management the situation gets resolved but results in a fierce clash of their personalities which in turn makes working at Solutions Unlimited cumbersome for Nitish.

In addition, as MLS is a unionized organization, Lance should have taken measures to ensure that job analysis steps meet various provisions of the collective agreement between the management and the unions. This case revolves around Nurul Rahman, a DHL Bangladesh (DHLB) manager who must recommend which of the two human resource information systems (HRISs) DHLB should adopt to alleviate the escalating workload on its human resources (HR) department. The choice between these systems is difficult: the HRIS favored by regional headquarters is significantly more expensive and likely unsuited to DHLB’s unique needs, whereas the HRIS favored by DHLB—although likely effective—seems to be incapable of meeting headquarters’ strong preference for streamlining human resource systems across disparate Asian subsidiaries. Rahman must carefully balance conflicting stakeholder interests and do so against the backdrop of a politically powerful headquarters that can “make or break” managerial careers. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.…

The conflict arose when new hires were being hired to move to the new department over the tenured associates and the tenured associates did not think that was fair. After complaints were issued to the site leader about new hires being picked over the tenured associates, the site leader had to investigate why new hires were being allowed to post out to different positions. After investigation the site leader found out the information given by the human resource department was incorrect, only associates that had been with the company for a year or more were allowed to apply for the position. Recruiters that interviewed associates for the position also knew that only associates that had been with the company for a year or more could apply for different positions. Poor communication was the cause of this conflict. There was a lack of external communication, the communication between “the company’s staff and clients, suppliers, and vendors (Kondrat, 2009).” Applications were sent to a third-party recruiting company that did not know the policy of only posting to positions after being with a company for a year. Because…

As I notice unprofessionalism procedures of the chemist recruitment established, I have to stay professional by focusing on the real conflict of interest I predicted it, not the person (Sanghera, 2010, pp.399), First, I will open constructive debates with HR manager far from any violence. Listening to him and understanding our company point of view about recruiting the chemist within my group. Clarifying it may be a critical error because he did not sign a non-disclosure agreement and maybe he had a non-compete agreement/clause with the former employer.…

What happened after this incident made me decide that both the leadership and managerial skills exhibited in the case weren’t up to the mark.…
