Nicole's Lunch History Case Study
Thanks for sending Nicole’s lunch history attachment. However, I would appreciate if I can view the same information on the attachment in Nicole’s lunch history account. Viewing lunch history was addressed to you on September 29, 2016. The above situation has not been resolved. Please help me to understand, are all the students and staff in the school having this problem or just a selected group of students? Since the past three years (September 2013- May 2016), I have not encountered the above situation. Why this year the above situation has become a problem and not resolved at this time.

According to the Iowa Department of Education website, there are 200 students attending the Paton-Churdan K-12 School in the 2016-2017 school year. Paton-Churdan is located in the small, rural town of Churdan, about 13 miles north of Jefferson. Of the 200 students, about 3.5% are Hispanic, 5.5% are multiracial, and 1.5% is Asian, making Caucasian the largest group at 89.5%. In looking at these percentages, it is easy to see that we do not fit into the idea of a diverse culture. However, we do have a large group of students who are found on the Free and Reduced Lunch program. There are 92 students who qualify for this program, close to half of the student population. According to the Iowa State University-Iowa School District Profiles, during…

Robert Kenner’s documentary, Food Inc., gives insight into operations in the food industry. The documentary depicts the people’s desire for money, with resultant implications characterized by mass production through varying approaches. Indeed, Kenner seeks to sensitize the society on the manner in which animals are exposed to inhumane conditions, severe health conditions that result from mass production in the food industry, and unmoral circumstances under which farmers operate. Whereas various flaws are depicted in the movie, it remains important in relation to societal operations and development. This positional essay provides a critique of Robert…

My opinion on school lunches is that it needs to be changed because of many complaints due to the lack of taste and and nutrients needed for the body.As many people know students dislike school lunch and the numbers of students buying hot lunches dropped over the course of the school year which used to average about 330 hot school lunches bought but now its only about 225 which further proves my point. Also the school lunch that they serve is pizza, chicken nuggets, and tacos. Do they sound healthy to you? well these are some of the menu items available to buy in school at lunch.Although schools did try to change the lunch healthier they did not succeed which leads me on my next topic.…

When students were asked what they thought about going back to the old lunch, where lunch was divided into three separate lunches, they all replied “No”. In these three lunches student’s lunch time would depend on their third block teacher. What makes the three lunches so grotesque is that some students would have to eat late or early (some students eating at 12 o’clock while other have to wait until 1:30 in the afternoon), it’s rare to have one’s friends in the same lunch making them feel isolated, and the most popular answer being that there are no tutoring or club meetings so students will have to stay after school to attend making it harder to do other extracurricular activities and keep their grades up. The original, big question of if…

School lunches should get changed. This is true, but the schools are making everything healthy and taking away all the “good” snacks and extras is punishing the people that aren't obese and overweight. Therefore, the schools have had to turn over to “The Smart Snacks in Schools” program sets limits on calories, fats, sugar, and sodium and promotes the consumption of dairy, whole grains, protein, and produce (Lincoff). Where the schools have had to fallback on The Smart Snacks program it is a really good idea to help the overweight or obese children at schools lose weight but it isn't good for them when they buy two or three lunches then it turns the food from being good for them to being just like the regular school food they started off with…

This article was about a study done on school lunch practices in typical schools. Some of the results were shocking, while others were what was expected. I wasn’t sure if in the 1950’s schools served lunch, but I came to find out that a lot of schools did. Sanitary efforts in the 1950s compared to now were very low and not monitored as much as today.…

How many time have you, the reader, stood in the school lunch line, waiting to get your lunch, and came out with nothing but garbage? Well, I think I know the solution to this problem, as well as others: school gardens! In my personal opinion, school gardens are pretty much essential for not only the education of the students and even teachers, but also, the general welfare of the whole school. They can improve school lunches; can have positive effects on students and teachers; and will give kids like me, a chance to build our skill and respect for the land, in gardening to pass as a legacy, for the future. School lunches are a big problem.…

Everyday there are 30.5 million lunches served at over 100,000 schools. Even though there are a lot of lunches being sold, according to http://schoolnutrition.org, but most of the food is wasted because students don't like the food or size isn't big enough. This is a problem I've noticed at my school, Bellmont High School. The school lunches at Bellmont need to be rethought and they need to change the menu and possibly the price.…

When students buy their lunch in a typical cafeteria, they expect decent, put together meals. Students usually see long lunch lines, hear loud talking, and eat fatty and disgusting food. In the lunch rooms I see unhealthy nasty food that everyone eats every single day. I have seen chili that smells like dog poop, nacho cheese that looks like barbeque sauce that got mixed in. Also the burritos tastes like vomit which was as hard as a rock. School cafeterias need to make more edible food and provide a healthier and more delicious variety of food.…
