Secondly, Character. I identify the eighth, “Possesses the concentration, self-discipline, and sustained attention and effort as demonstrated by their perseverance and application to studies,” from the list provided to be the most important. Currently, I maintain a 4.0-grade point average, specifically a cumulative GPA of 4.027 which I intend to maintain until my senior year. I am a student with self-imposed standards that, at times, seem to drive me beyond my limits. Notably, my parents have never mandated that I engage in strenuous classes, nor have they persisted of me to have a 4.0 GPA, but I have always set a standard for myself to maintain that grade point average. Moreover, I constantly seek knowledge and I find a sense of joy in the …show more content…
On top of that, I plan to take early college classes. Being in AP classes is a true test of one’s perseverance and ability to discipline yourself of being punctual, managing time one’s wisely, and putting nothing but your best in all your work. My sophomore year, I joined AP Human Geography with Mrs. Koanui, and admittedly, I struggled with self-discipline in regards to time management. Thus, resulting in numerous counts of restless nights, along with several other factors concerning social and extracurricular activities, disrupted my focus in the class. Additionally, I turned in countless late works in the third and fourth terms, but taking part in such a rigorous class allowed for me to be a better, more focused, and industrious student in both my current regular and AP classes. Furthermore, I find myself with better time management skills and I currently am able to balance both my studies social interactions, having extra time even. I firmly believe that being a well-rounded student is a key role in success as both an individual and student. I attempt my best to partake in as many clubs as I can, and currently, involved in five other

“I attribute my success to this - I never gave or took any excuse." (Florence Nightingale) The reasons that I wish to pursue a Masters of Science in Nursing are many. I have been practicing as a nurse since I graduated with a BSN degree in 2010 from East Tennessee State University. For two years I have worked as a Dialysis Unit Nurse and it has been during this time that my passion for the vocation of nursing has truly bloomed. Through this experience I have learned the value of keeping to one’s dreams and persevering. Despite the fact it has taken me some time to obtain my Bachelors degree it has only inspired me to continue on to get my Masters so I can expand my knowledge of the nursing profession and all that it entails. A Masters degree would also help me in my future career goals and aspirations, which is to be able to assist those in the rural areas of our community.…

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

Another area I would like to point out is time management. If you give yourself the correct time to study and accomplish your class work, then time management will not be a problem for you. Giving yourself adequate time is a must here at the UOP. Taking frequent breaks will help you to not become overwhelmed. Dedicating a quiet study space…

Throughout my school career, obtaining good grades has always been a value my parents expected of me and therefore also have been a value I’ve held for myself. Getting the best out of my education is a goal I set for myself every school day to ensure that I’ll have a bright future. Also taking rigorous AP and CCP courses are an essential part of my academics. Challenging classes such as the AP and CCP courses enabled to reach my potential and push the limits of my education. These classes have not only helped me prepare for college this coming fall, but they have also allowed me to be ahead of my peers by getting some college credits out of the way before graduating high…

Bryant McGill once said, "Whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest chance at growth". No matter the situation, people usually will either follow or lead. As a freshman in high school, I was the follower, never fully realizing my potential of being the leader. Finding myself would take time, and a lot of encouraging along the way. Going into my freshman year, my participation in class government was mostly a popularity contest. Which meant not so much about leading a particular class or group of people. I didn't find myself thinking about running for any major ASB (Associated Student Body) position. A larger, more pronounced position in ASB would mean being uncomfortable in more situations and also having to grow into true leadership.…

I chose nursing as a profession because I really wanted to help people through some of their most vulnerable moments and wanted to make a positive difference in their lives by providing compassionate care. The kind of compassion and care nurses provide to those in need motivated me to pursue a career in nursing. Also, no day is ever the same in nursing; every new day offers different challenges that keep this profession very exciting and offers a continuous learning environment. So, to continue to improve quality of care for my patients and advance my knowledge of nursing, I’m applying for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program.…

Through the last nine weeks this class and my experiences have taught me so much about how to prepare myself for my future not only in my college courses but in my career path too. I started this path not really knowing what to expect but in desperate need for a change in my life. In all reality I didn’t realize how unprepared I actually was. This course imp articular taught me so much! I learned how to set goals for myself so that I could stay motivated and be able to visually see my completion of each goal. You separate your goals into short term and long term so that you can effectively schedule your tasks at hand in the correct order to accomplish all of your goals. When I realized that I had a fear of failing I was also directed in this course to learn how to overcome procrastination. It is easy to be motivated in this learning environment by reading the stories and opinions of the other students here. The more motivated you are the less you procrastinate! Managing my time was definitely one of the hugest struggles for me through this experience so I was thankful that this topic was covered so thoroughly in the past weeks. I actually am starting to enjoy making the calendar for each week that organizes the lives of my daughter and I. Another lesson that goes hand in hand with time management is creating an effective learning and study environment. It’s so important to be able to get the absolute most out of every minute of your time. To do this I’ve found that when studying you need to be able to focus yourself on nothing other than your schoolwork and assignments on hand. With all of the things I have learned by my experiences in the past few weeks I feel more confident about my pursuit in my career goals. I feel this has set me up to succeed. I have been able to learn how to think outside the box and be independent in my decision making process.…

My interest in the health field dates back to when I was twelve years old. My grandmother had suffered a massive stroke and the left side of her body was paralyzed. From that very moment in our lives, I became very involved with the paperwork and the health of my grandmother. I have witnessed the effect on her as well as my family of her stroke, craniotomy, heart attacks, seizures, chest pains, amputation of her leg, therapy, to so much more. Yes, this was a huge impact on my life as a young individual, but it allowed me to mature. With the great guidance from my school and family members it was a part of my life that I was able to get through. Learning what she went through, translating the comments from doctors to my parents, and vice versa, and informing my grandmother and my parents what the use of each…

As a child I was always warned to not slack up, to instead pick up the pace and keep fighting for more. I translated this to my education; whenever the opportunity to take advanced courses like Honors, and AP came i fought to have a place in those courses. My entire experience in middle School and High School was (and is) a constant struggle to stay on top, on top of my responsibilities, obligations, and struggles. As a student I am proud to have made the decision of becoming an AP student, since it will better prepare me to merge into the flow and atmosphere of Universities. The life of an AP student is quite stressful and always occupied, with new assignments being piled up both in class and out. It is and was a constant struggle to complete…

Managing your time will be a very important aspect to your college success. While the world is a place very demanding of your time when it comes to television, social networking, cell phones, and friends and family, you have to be able to prioritize what is important to what is optional. The task becomes even tougher when you are working full-time and attending classes full-time as your time for course work is cut down dramatically. One major thing you could do would be to chart out an hourly time from of your life for a whole week so you can examine how much time you’re devoting to different aspects in…

Since my freshman year, I have been in the Lady Mountie Soccer team and since my sophomore year I have been in the Shades Valley Color Guard. While still being in those sports activities, I also take part in other organizations like the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society, and at same time taking AP classes. From being in all of these activities and classes, I have learned to be excellent at time scheduling with homework, soccer and color guard practices, and meetings. Although it may be challenging to keep track of time while taking more classes with UA Early College, I am still willing to proceed with the program because I know that there will be help from UA Early College peer coaches, and learning communities coordinator. Also I regularly finish all of my work that my AP classes gives me, and I dedicate myself to my other extracurricular activities. Therefore, I have no doubt that I would be successful as a UA Early College student because I know how to leave space for my studies, I am an eligible student, and I can commit to learning at a UA Early…
