There are a various cause of imperialism. one cause of taking over land is the need to gain raw materials. According to the illustration in document 4b the British were strictly interested in taking valuable natural resources like gold. Although it may seem that imperialism was usually positive it was also negative. One negative effect of imperialism is that the British took a countless amount of money from people. As seen most clearly on document seven where it states “They take away our money from year to year.” This shows that the British attained what they wanted and the Indians weren’t pleased with there actions. The Indians were forced into slavery so that the British can control them.
Another negative impact from the British imperialism is that it harmed Africa by making it a racial segregated nation. In document eight it supports this claim by stating “racial segregation and discrimination makes it extremely difficult for the colonial to develop his personality to the full.” This quotation shows that Africa became racially discriminated. The British made all the white people in Africa get education and everyone else
