National Honor Society Personal Statement
National Honor Society membership is among the highest honors a high school student can achieve, and I am deeply honored to have been considered as a future chapter participant. The program stands for more than academic achievement; scholarship, service, leadership, and character must hold equal weight in the foundation of an Honor Society member. I am confident that my abilities and merit embrace the standards of such a student. I have continually strived for academic excellence with the knowledge that I will only benefit from upholding a strict expectation of myself; moreover, I carry the same attitude towards my animal breeding and showing programs. Since the start of ninth grade, I have maintained college readiness and honor roll with my continued determination to accept nothing less than an ‘A.’ With this drive, I was able to combat my shortcomings from Summer Bridge and climb to my current placing at the top of my class with a 4.26 GPA. During my poultry breeding career, my birds earned various Reserve Champion honors while I succeeded in receiving Reserve Champion in poultry showmanship. I have since moved into the beginnings of my first goat breeding project where I received …show more content…

With both of my parents being active duty, I have also openly supported the military community by assisting in events including the Harvest Ridge Wine Festival benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project and DAFB’s Haunted

One of the main messages I would want any person to know is that not all farmers treat their animals inhumanly. In fact, I would say they are better off in good farms rather than in the wild. In Minnesota the temperatures drop to below zero and rise to above 100 degrees. When the turkeys are in the barns they have temperatures suitable to their needs. When they get sick we give them medication. Every day and night we feed them. When you work with animals you have to go around their schedule. Many times the turkeys would eat before we did. When old turkeys leave we have to clean the barns and make sure it is suitable for when the new…

Animal farm is a classic portrayal of how power can affect the goals and hopes of society. Animal farm, a story by George Orwell begins with a revolution, and a lot of hopes for a perfect society being developed by the animals by kicking off the humans from the farm but slowly the leading officials, the pigs, get a taste of power and from then on things began to change. A very important part of the novel is the irony George Orwell used to make this novel what it is. In this story, irony is used to show lack of equality, no matter what the original intent was, can result in oppression. Orwell used three types of irony in his story: dramatic irony, verbal irony, and situational irony. Irony helps develop the story and improves the overall quality of the writing. Dramatic irony is inherent in speeches or a situation of drama which is understood by the reader but not gasped by the characters in the story. A scene in the story that shows the irony is when Boxer “the horse” is sent off to be slaughtered. The animals are told by squealer that he is being sent off to the hospital, but the readers know that he is not being sent to the hospital. George Orwell used Dramatic irony to make the reader jump out of there sits and tell the animals what is really happening to them and how their being fooled by the pigs. Also when the animals where told by Napoleon that the windmill was knocked down by snowball when it was actually knocked down by the storm.Verbal irony is when a person or a character in the story says or writes something but means another thing. “No animals may drink alcohol” was one of the seven commandments which were made by the pigs. Later in the story the pigs started drinking alcohol and then they changed the commandment to “no animal may drink alcohol to excess”. Another verbal irony was “all animals are created…
