Nathan Sawaya Essay

If you’re interested in Lego sculpture one of the first people you’re going to know about is Nathan Sawaya. He was born in July 10, 1973 in Colville Washington, and was raised in Veneta Oregon. He got his education from New York university, and New York School of Law. He wasn’t content with his job as a lawyer. He wanted something that included creativity, and being a lawyer does not include creativity. He started painting after work. The next step for him was to resign being a lawyer and make Lego his career. Many people disliked his change in career. He even made a giant Lego sculpture called grasp to show how he felt when people ridiculed him when he changed his career.

His work includes: X-ray,yellow courtney, yellow, red man crawling, incomplete, swimmer, strength of spirit, writer, stairway, guarded heart, red, ascension, think, cracked, blue face mask, disintegration, Andy Warho, Ode to Andy, Soldier on Pedestal, Big Pencil, and milk and cookie. He even made himself out of Lego bricks, and is offering to make a life sized replica of you for only, $60,000.00. He not only made a life sized replica of himself, but also made a Iwo Jima Replica. Sizing to be, 75″ x 75″ x 68″. He also made a model called reflection, which is a man looking into a mirror and is seeing himself! He’s also made a giant replica of a Campbell’s Soup that’s is supposed to be popping out of a Frame. Nathan Sawaya is obviously very talented and is very creative. It is very easy to see why he has been presented with so many awards. He uses little, small Lego elements to make such large models to inspire: emotions, ideas, and just for people to build people large models too in
