NARRATIVE REPORT

Many experiences in my life have shaped who I am as a person today. The idea of having this kind of summer job at the Provincial Government of Batangas had given me an excitement; excitement to experience work inside the office, meet new people, feel a different environment and be independent. My work started at the 22th of April and I experienced how a working environment seems like.

I was so blessed because I was assigned at the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office. They were all good to me especially Ma’am Emilie Katigbak. I learned how to interact with other people. I assisted the designated tour guides in handling visitors from other provinces in their Lakbay Aral. I did follow- up/submission of documents in HR Department. I also encoded letters/documents assigned to me. Working here in Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office gave me confidence, motivation, and maturity. I was able to build up my confidence and attitude towards my work. What I have learned for 20 days will always be a big part of me, my growing up. I’d like to thank Governor Vilma Santos-Recto for providing me with this wonderful experience. I can say that my working experience at the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office was worthwhile and I have done my best to make the most of it.

From having to assimilate to a new culture, my family left many of our loved ones behind and this fact would resonate strongly years later. In response, my parents saved money to allow my family to visit the Philippines every four years. From my growth from childhood to adolescence, making my trip back to the Philippines taught me a lesson every visit. From being unable to be with family in the Philippines as they suffered from illness to seeing the poverty-stricken life of the people in Pampanga, I have developed a deep appreciation of the opportunities I have been…

At first, it was hard for me to adjust in regard with our works. We were always excused from classes and I wasn’t used to that but as time passed by, I began enjoying the tasks we need to do in spite of the pressure. Planning activities isn’t that easy but with the cooperation from the council’s other members, we did it all. Not every activity may be planned well but at least I could say we did our best. Two of the activities I’d never forget would be the Intramurals and NDEA’s Closing Ceremony. We went through a lot for those activities to be successful but it was all worth it. Nights spent for planning, days under sun and rain for decorating, lunch breaks when we brainstormed, all of those weren’t wasted. They’re part of something I am proud of as an SSG officer. A lot of sacrifices were also done as an SSG officer. Being out of the classes, missing so much lessons, going to school even during weekends just for planning and beautifying the student body’s activity isn’t simply an effortless job.…

On the first day of my internship, I felt so nervous to commit mistakes because I was anewbie at that time and I also felt afraid mostly when I was having a conversation with thesuperiors. But in that moment I realized, I need to prove that I am firm, flexible and versatile inany kind of circumstances. And I often showed them my best to make them amazed. During my training days, I often practiced myself to wake-up early in the morning just tobe on-time and until now I am so proud to myself because I maintain it. And in line with this, Ialways did accomplish the activities of Film Archives very well; I did paper works andcompilation of films; I also experienced to answer phone calls, transcribe and rewind tapes; Andlastly, I would like to mention the most unforgetable and most tiring activities ,which happenedinside the big Vault of Film Archives, such as getting, returning and arranging of tapes/ films, researching and encoding Filmographic details, previewing of Filipino movies for assessment, monitoring of temperature and humidity at the archives vault and other office related activities. Then, at the end of the day, I will give myself enough time to rest to get ready for the next tiringday. Grueling yet enjoyable. Enjoyable because I knew these are the works that I may attain inthe near future. And I hope it may come true. As time went by, I learned to value intimacy and close-knit relationship together with myco-trainees and superiors. I learned principles of archiving. I learned to handle myresponsibilities as well as my accountability to the station. I also observed proper timemanagement and act with speed and…

What can I say about my experience in SPES this year? I got shocked when I knew that I was assigned in Mayor’s Office because I wasn’t expecting but it has something to do with my course. I already expected that when we say Mayor’s office the first thing that was expected was this is the busiest office in the whole office of the Government of Malabon because it is the center of all the transactions in the City of Malabon concerning the welfare of our co-Malabonian. Mayor’s Office staffs were saying that we are lucky because we were assigned in the month of Malabon day. In our first day we did make some bandiritas that put inside of the amphitheater for the celebration of Malabon day. The next day, we make pabitin and palayok that requested by different barangays. I learned to socialize to different kind of people that enters and leave the Mayor’s office. Some of them are in needs in terms of medical assistance, financial assistance, educational assistance, etc. I also learned to use Xerox and Fax machines and answer telephone calls. There are some days that we go to different barangays to help in assisting people in Kalingang Malabonian wherein Mayor reach different barangays to help in their prior needs. Sometimes I was assigned in HEWCC to sort files and documents or being assigned in Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon to help med.techs and assist students that undergo drug testing. Those last days of our summer in cityhall are spent in repacking bags for BalikEskwela 2015 and calling different schools for delivery of the said bags. Because of this experience, I opened my mind to support different activities and programs to be headed of our Hon. Antolin A. Oreta III that giving Malabonians a better kind of living. Staffs and all people in Mayor’s office were very kind and have a warm welcome to all the people that enters the office. They are also dedicated and know they’re responsibilities inside the office, regardless of mountains of work they never forget to smile…

Finally, I’m home! After two months of adjustments and hardships in studying at UP Baguio, I’d felt again the boiling temperature and the warm welcome of Pampanga. I had observed the difference of Pampanga, my hometown, and Baguio, the place I currently live on. Aside from its temperature, you can distinguish their dissemblance- the food and the kind of people it has. But what I miss about this place is our home and especially the people in it. Here’s a little background about my hometown I sincerely miss:…

After eating lunch and hearing our speakers inspirational talks and learned a lot from their guidelines in handling position to what extent we may contribute to the community as young leaders of new barangays. We were all determined to go out and enjoy the sceneries with our phones and cameras. We roam around the island; saw different people from all sides of the country. Tiange side by side selling souvenirs and memorabilia, food, typical it may be and some exotic to be justified.
